What did you do to your bike today?

Tried riding her to my Oncology followup Labs/CT yesterday morning (35 miles each way) leaving home at 6:15am.
Temp was about 33*F out, but my gloves and jacket and jeans/rainliner/riding pants felt cold, but ok.
After about 15-20 miles I said "screw it" and turned around heading back home to grab the car again...
The winds were blowing the whole way at about 25-35 mph and I saw on my phone that gusts were up to 42mph... I was leaning way over trying to go straight but the winds would still blow me into the opposing lanes. Didnt feel safe and didnt want to risk anything.
Didnt realize it was that bad until I got out of town thanks to the trees and homes blocking a good amount of wind, but the country roads I have to take got pretty scarey!!!

Got my SYMTEC Grip Warmers in the mail yesterday also. Will be trying to put those on this weekend.

For those that have installed these or new grips.. Does our bike have a ribbed throttle tube or is it smooth?

With the lack of a air compressor, I will be trying the *cut metal hanger put into end of drill, to turn around the grip method to remove the grips.

Smooth, and I used a flat tip screw driver and wd-40. Worked great, besides the fact that I found out too late in, that my screwdriver tip was bent, wich poked through the rubber. Regardless if you have a good screwdriver and wd-40/penetrating lube with a straw it was easy for me.

installed an HID bulb I got from ddm tuning. 35W 5000k--pure white in color. took me about 6 hours but the change in color is nice

I think you've seen my thread about it already but yes, after a few more rides I'll post my thoughts on the bike. I want to put another couple hundred miles on it before I give my thoughts.

Thursday 10/4

I was leaning way over the whole way and still had a hard time staying in my lane or on the road.. Then the gusts hit and would scare the crap out of me even more... Wasnt worth it, turned around and got the car instead..

Sunday 10/7
Removed stock grips.
Installed Symtec Grip Heaters and Distribution panel.
Got grips back on.
Fuse blows. Think I have a bad ground location so will adjust my ground and try again.
Lost 2 screws in garage that fell and cannot find... So having to order replacement fairing screws and those stupid Nut Springs that the screws tie into... 2 of them will not accept a screw at all.. Even taken off I cant get the screw in there... Maybe previously stripped or so.. So bike is un-usable until I get those from dealer this saturday. The will probably only have 1-2 weeks left of occasional riding anymore this year!

This is what i did this morning before i came to work.

Getting her ready for the track. Dropping the wheels off for new shoes to be mounted up. Will be changing chain and sprockets, oil, spark plugs, pulling all the fuses or unplugging all lights, tapeing up headlight, tail light etc... Ill put up a pic when shes all back together ready for the track.

So if you wreck, your crap is not spewed all over the track and taking someone else down with ya. Also so people do not fixate on your brake light. Recommended to unplug the lights as well.

Just my thoughts, I could be completely wrong though.

Yes and no. Taping up the lenses is to keep broken bits of sharp plastic off the track. Removing bulbs or fuses is to keep from overheating things while taped up. Removing mirrors is not only for the broken bits but also to keep reflections from blinding riders behind you. Also you dont want to be looking behind you on the track. Too distracting.

Taping the speedo is so you dont spook yourself. On the track you naturally go a lot faster than you do on the street. People will want to look at the speedo when their eyes should be on the track.

Installed my PIAA Xtreme white bulbs... not dark yet, but, since I could see them in the daylight... it's possible to tell they are whiter. They are not supposed to be "brighter", that would be the next two steps up in the PIAA bulbs (intense and super plasma)... I just have three years on my stock bulbs and wanted a cheap upgrade, $50 for two, so I have a spare.

More so you know where you are in the rev range if you cant feel it. I personally never look at either gauge.
