Well it happened again. I won that leather jacket from sport rider magazine. What did I win this time? Got call from the motorcycle show to call them back. I did.

OMG OMG OMG

I was the grand prize winner!!! I get my choice of a Suzuki Hyabusa or GSXR600!

Because I have to pay the taxes on it, I am leaning towards the gsxr and I would then have a commuter in the 6r and a play bike inn the gsx. Yet I could modify the busa and make it kinda like the concours for touring with the wife.. but again that's more taxes.
And I am sorry Anthony, but there is a bit of a stigma about busas.

Guess I am canceling layaway on my KAHR PM40 to pay the sales tax.

The coolest thing I ever won was a Fender Electric Guitar w/amp when I turned 21 @ a bar. I think they hooked me up though.

Take the busa (MSRP $14600), then resell it, use the money you get from selling it to pay the taxes you owed on it, and you should still have plenty left to buy the 600.

i think id like to send in a protest to the motorcycle show. Give the bike to someone from Minnesota that is going to get to ride it 4 months of the year? that should go to Cali or Florida LOL. ok im a little jealous, congrats again!!

About 10 years ago, a guy I used to race RC Cars with entered the Radio Shack national championship with these Xmod micro cars they were selling for a while. Grand prize for the series was a fully modified Acrua NSX valued at $120,000. He was responsible for the sales tax on it. He had to take out a LARGE loan on that and couldn't afford the monthly payment. After only 4 months he had to sell it.

Thanks all. After looking into all options I decided on the GSX-R600.

Calling insurance I found that I can have the gsx600 AND my fz6r for still less than the cost of the busa only for insurance. I did not want to lose the 6R. I can actually have the gsx AND fz6r AND the fjr1300 for less than the cost of the busa and 6r combined.
This way after I get the fjr, I will have an errand and commuter in the 6r, 2up tourer with the fjr, and a track and weekend play toy in the gixxer.

Having to pay tax, title and licence and currently being tight financially due to an er visit before Christmas and cancer followup visits it will be hard still, but easier to afford this charge for the gixxer.

I have to sign an affidavit that I may be used in marketing and am not allowed to sell or transfer ownership. (I assume for maybe 1yr.. they can't make me keep it indefinitely). If don't agree I forfeit the bike. I had thought of busa and trading it in until I saw that term and condition.. I also spoke to my dealer (that I got my 6r from and who let me do all the demos last year on the concours, ninja 1k, for). He called around and then emailed me back saying that even though cheaper up front if I ever trade in, I will get more back in the gixxer.

Good news, the GSXR600 keeps winning the 600 comparos.

I've seen lots of reviews where they bring a non-journo along, and the non-journo says its the first time they have had the knee down while test riding the GSXR, they keep saying it makes them feel confident.

You won a bike, amazing.

I might actually start entering contests like that now.

There was a contest to drive Arnie's tank over stuff, funny advert for it too.

For those of us in Aus, whats the tax part you boys always cry about? Is it sales tax or a yearly registration tax or the like?

Over here I would take the Busa, easy mile eater! But If I was set on the FJR I would do the same as your doing, trck bike, commuter bike and travel bike!
