Help me choose a new color

You've probably heard, the orange bike is no more. I peeled back to Raven where I planned to stay for a while.... BUT THEN THE WIFE HAD HER SAY! She said "You know what, you were so visible on the orange bike, I think you have to dip it another color immediately."

So ladies and gents, I need a color. Honestly I don't think I'd like any color as quite much as I liked the orange. Also my best riding buddy has a green Kawasaki which makes me not want to go green, but he said he wouldn't mind. I like the green. Anyway, besides "regular" color plastidip, here are some interesting options.

#1 my personal favorite, Iguana Green Candy Pearl


#2 Burnt Orange (seemed brighter on the DYC website)


#3 Copperhead Orange (also seemed brighter and more orange on the DYC website)


#4 Suzuka Blue Pearl


#5 Something like this - dark bike BRIGHT WHEELS



Myself, I'm leaning towards #1, #5, or possibly some kind of blue. Thoughts? Also have a poll going.....

What's the difference between Micro Flakes and Holographic Micro Flakes?I just wanted to look at the burnt orange since you said it looks different on the site and I noticed that they have 2 types of burnt orange.

I'm with you Matthew I like the green and also the black with bright wheels. How bout black with some of that green for certain parts including the rims.

Would it look awful to do the tail, tank, and wheels in that green and leave the rest black? Does anyone have some photoshop skills?

I'd do the small areas in the green. I think it would look awesome if you could do the frame in the green, but I imagine that's a pain in the arse. So I'd do pretty much the opposite of what you did with the orange. All the old orange areas stay black and all areas that were black go green. It would be a minimalist approach and I think it would really look good. Just my $0.02

I think your fair game to 2 tone almost any color that way with the black.If you start getting more green then you like it'll be easy to change.But after owning the copper awhile, that color is almost irritating (because I like the copper more then the red base).Every time I get a compliment it looks red instead of copper, it only looks truly copper around high noon when the suns the brightest, with camera flashes, etc.I'm really intrigued by that darker burnt orange in your original post, its so dark I think it will be one of those situations where people take a second look to see where the dark burnt orange is.

That's the only reason I hesitate. The orange looked great from a distance, but up close you could see the edges that weren't perfect from running out of paint, and you can REALLY see where the dirt is collecting in the dip. I couldn't scrub the dirt out, so I decided to peel and try again.

I think the burnt orange, the first one I guess you did not mean to put up is the most interesting color, kinda metallic copper looking. I like the bumblebee Idea someone had of a good yellow and black frame/etc.

I'm REALLY leaning towards the green. A friend of mine photoshopped a few options. These first two are my favorites. All green looks good and is really visible. The following one isn't so visible, but it looks good!

I've always loved the look of colored wheels on a black bike. If I ever had to paint my wheels I'd do bright red with my black bike. White wheels look good on a black bike too.

He has a gun, but he said the cans work better. I think he uses the gun because of cost. Can buy the dip cheaper in bulk I am sure. I know buying by the can gets expensive.

To answer Travis and Scott, I'll probably end up using the spray gun. I think the cans are much easier to use, but the colors I want need to be custom mixed with pearls and flakes and stuff.

My beef with the plastidip gun is the air comes out at the same rate no matter what, the dial adjusts how much dip. This made is VERY hard to do edges and corners, and one of the reasons I wasn't totally happy with my original dip. With corners and edges, too much paint is sprays everywhere, not enough and the air blows the paint away from the edges. BUT I'll make it work.

If you plan on dipping and your color comes in cans, spray cans are much easier to use imo. To be fair, I've been painting and dipping things with spray cans for about 10 years, even painted my wife's entire motorcycle with aerosol primer, paint, and clear. I've only spray gunned a bike once, but will be doing my buddy's GS500 blue before I tackle my bike again.

If you want green go get a kawi
I think the black / blue looks great. Not the most nighttime visible but looks fantastic.
