The upper and lower sensors sitting on a 2-sided tape. The lower one I had to put on a supportive piece of plastic to make it closer to the shifter.

Yes. The reviews you read is mostly cruisers and bikes where the shifter sits the way that makes it not possible to put sensors near the shifter. So they have to get creative... In out bike it fits with no PITA. As I said, the upper sensor is on a heavy duty 2-sided tape. for the lower one you need a piece of plastic or some like that to put the sensor on, and then glue it in the frame between 2 bolts. (in the pic the shifter is blocking the view). A small piece of magnet is attached to the inner side of shifter arm

it's this one: 6 Speed Red Universal Digital Gear Indicator for Motorcycle Display Shift Level Sensor

I had a different one called "Datatool" on another bike which is connected to the tscho wires, but this one is way cheaper and easier to install with the same end result.
