What did you do to your bike today?

Got her prepped for the move to San Diego. My brother says he might have a friend with a full R6 Yoshimura set up that I can manipulate for the FZ6R. I'm not a fan of Yoshimura, but my broke booty is broke and I am in no position to refuse an upgrade regardless of personal preference. I know my family will rest a little easier knowing I'll have a louder pipe on the bike. But I'd need to get my hands on a power commander too. Gah I hate being broke.
 
Saw gas prices going down (C(r)ook County, Illinois) so I decided I would load up the Marthy sport rev A map into my juice box with two brothers exhaust set up. In retrospect I should have done it since day one. What an improvement!

Cleaned down my chain fully with WD40 and have converted to using inox spray every 500 km/ 2 tanks of fuel

Can't get that good clean Dupont stuff here ..........thread on a local forum (perthstreetbike.com.au) called 'WD40 chain experiment'. Thread running for a long time and its all been positive (spotless chain, proven better gas mileage on the really gunked up ones, longevity equaling/exceeding the off the shelf sticky/icky stuff).........so I took the plunge.

I use this stuff up here:
Chain Brush, Chain Cleaner, Kerosene Chain Cleaner by Tirox
Ultra Chain Lube, Ultra Motorcycle Chain Lube by Tirox
 
Looks like good stuff, can't get that here but it fits the bill. Very sandy here and in one week the chain is covered in it. Acts like a grinding paste...
 
Installed Oxford Premium Sport Heated Grips and took it for a ride in 5°C temp. These are impressive. Only complaint is that I didn't do this years ago!!
 
Went out to wash her today. Centered her in her spot in the garage. Ran out the hose, got her on the stands, got everything together, planning to take the plastics off and do it right.

Then I remembered the chain hadn't been lubed in a while. So while cleaning the chain I noticed it was so loose that I couldn't clean it properly.

So plans changed, I spent some time getting the chain tension right, then cleaned and lubed it. The kerosene had to dry. Then the lube had to dry. I did get the wheels wiped down.

I consider it a win. The chain was pretty darn loose. I'd rather accomplish the maintenance than the aesthetic.
 
Changed the coolant and oil. Long overdue for the coolant, the stuff that came out was pretty gross :eek: some very useful posts on this forum helped me through it though and it was pretty easy. Then I went for a ride with my dad and brother, got to ride their bikes: street triple R and f3 800, awesome bikes but I love my fz.
 
Dont know if this is at any intrest but finally my bike is done.

I actually haven't since I moved to Wisconsin just for the fact they use heavy salt applications once the snow moves in. Spokane used a low-corrosive chemical de-icer that I believe was either urea or one of the acetates. So here, I've made the decision that I don't want to pick road salt out of every niche on the bike before storing it over winter.

Otherwise, I put the bike up once the temps dipped low enough that the ice or snow wouldn't melt by morning. I just wear warm gear and thermal layers, and Seirus headliner balaclava under the helmet. The first year with the bike, I rode it almost to Thanksgiving and had it back out by early February.
 
Well. I finally did my 16k maintenance, 2k and a year past-due.
 
Road to the shop and back for oil change, chain service. Got my Heaterz today and working on installing them. Ordered Easylock Givi's because I want something more then cloth that at least locks a little. Now having :iconbeer: which is more coffee color then beer :)
 
Took her on her last adventure through my home town. Next street she rides on will be in San Diego. Here's to new chapters in life!
 
Put some air in the tires and took it out for a little ride...about 35 miles or so enjoying the SoCal morning weather. Wanted to get a ride in before it got too hot. Going to be close to 90 degrees today [emoji41]
