Looks good Martin, was thinking about adding a socket as well. I like the way you mounted it near the key.

I actually met a guy at cycle gear while I was there picking up some flush mounts and we got to talking and he hooked me up. He's out of Tulare good guy great work

its been a while but i installed some bar end mirrors yesterday and covered the mirror holes today.

Made a little face plate for my new voltage display. Kind of nice to have with the aux. lights. Just to be on the safe side... I kill the battery once.
At the same time I joint the 12V socket adapter. Look nice and clean!
Before someone ask, yes... this is real carbon fiber. I had a little piece left over from a previous project.
Great job. I think the volt meter is a fantastic idea. Should be standard on these bikes...

Started tearing down the 1977 GS550 I got for $200. Sitting 3 years and so far, only 2 screws stripped on the 4 carbs. New slot carved in with a dremel, time to dip them!
Sweet, did you end up snagging up a bike for your buddy anyway?In one of my new magazines somewhere, I saw a pair of linesman plier's with wierd tip designed to grip round float bowl screws.I'd love to have them.

Well, yes and no. He still wants to ride but three of us wanted a project... so we got one. One friend of mine comes up about 3 weekends a month from almost 2 hours away. Doesn't always wanna make that highway ride on his bike, so now he'll have a spare here.
If we can figure out these carbs and get it running, it should be safe for the cost of 2 tires and a pair of brake lines. We can even get a custom seat and cafe handlebars, and keep the whole project under a k. When I get some nice pics, maybe I'll open a thread in "the bar" of wherever I can safely be off-topic.
There just so happens to be an "Non FZ6R bike" sub forum...

(yesterday) I did my first tire change, with some help from my dad. went with the Michelin pilot road 2s. going to test them out today when the rain clears up.

@priotiynapkin: I've got around 2500 miles on my Pilot Road 2's, now. You're going to like them... a lot!
I was happy with the Roadsmart stock tires on the 6R. However, the old adage, "you don't miss what you don't know" applies here. The PR2's are grippier in both dry and wet; inspire *much* more confidence in the twisties; and just don't seem to want to slip or let go regardless of how far over you push the bike.
On another note, I am *very* happy with my Sena SMH5 headset, so I ordered an SMH10-11 for another helmet, to check the difference (the new SMH10R is coming soon with a slimmer profile, but, I like the jog dial on the original versions, and they do away with it on the R). I installed the SMH10 yesterday (which is why this post is in this thread), and this is what I found:
SMH5 on the left, on the Scorpion; SMH10 on the right, on the Arai
Bottom line, I like them both (they have identical functionality, why wouldn't I...). However, I *do* like the smaller profile of the SMH5. If I'm not in a situation where I need the additional range or battery life (there's plenty on the 5), I think the 5 is a better deal (as long as you get the optional speakers).

- Version 1.2 and 4.1.1 firmware for the SMH5 and SMH10, respectively, give you exactly the same commands, responses, and functionality.
- They're both now Bluetooth 3.0
- The SMH10 has a much larger profile, and drops down further below the helmet skirt (probably explains the lower antenna, and much greater range).
- Haven't tested it, but the SMH10 has about 50% more range, and battery life (although I've never run out of juice with the SMH5).
- They both paired perfectly with my phone, GPS, and each other.

wow, those small panel meters are cheap too:

might have to look into that as I look to add more "toys" in the future.

I'm so bummed. I was supposed to go out for a real ride today (first in 6 weeks) with a bunch of friends and a riding buddy who came into town from Vegas. But I just stepped outside and it's 34 and ice on the roads and the ride was heading east into the mountains where it's in the 20's. I know some of you would push on, but I just have a bad feeling about it. I think they're still going but I'm pussing out. Such a bummer. One of the things I love about living here is the year around riding. But it's been so damn cold and wet here this winter that I haven't been able to ride more than a quick freeze-your-ass-off ride on Christmas day. It was in the high 20's where we went that day and I could feel my tires sliding around on the ground not riding with any speed at all just because I couldn't get them warm. (Doesn't help that they're bt003's and are meant for the track

It was 45* here the other day, and it rained a little.I rode up to a friends house in Indianapolis in the afternoon, lost track of time, and came home around 11pm.Everything was covered in ice.Its no fun concentrating on keeping the bike upright to avoid a crash.I'm just a little stupid at times and put myself in bad positions lol
Discretion is the better part of valor. Never a good idea to ride if you'll be focused on something other than riding anyway, so even if it's all in your mind, that's reason enough to not go.
Thanks guys. Apparently they all had a great ride and the roads were in great condition where they went. So I'm thinking tomorrow I'll go do the same ride. It's supposed to be a little bit warmer tomorrow and they had no issues today. I've had a few days where I was getting into my gear and just for one reason or another, didn't feel it was right to go out and just bit the bullet and hung everything back up and didn't ride. Better safe than sorry I guess.

Knowing when not to ride is also part of being a safe rider. 
I know how u feel bcuz I'm in the same situation. But, I never regret erring on the side of caution.
It's great that your friends were ok. But, with the cold & wet weather we've had, it very easily could've gone the other way too. Always trust your instincts.
