Goodbye FZ6R

Today is a bittersweet day, it's the last night my FZ6R will spend in my garage. I've traded Fizzer in on a 2015 FZ-09. The FZ6R has been a wonderful bike to own and ride, never gave me so much as a hint of trouble. I will definitely pop in here still, I think all of you guys and gals are a great group!

With that being said, here's a few pics of the new ride.

Yamaha is smoking the other bike makers. All their bikes except the R6 has been updated or new. Even the scooters are exciting, like the TMAX that thing must ride like a beast.

Marthy, I may be hitting you up for some tips with suspension, etc. I'll see what it's like, but the general opinion is that the suspension needs at least a bit of work.

Start shopping for a 2008-10 ZX10 shock... Then fork spring for your weight + 10W oil @ 130mm oil level. That should be a good start

Did 450kms on it this weekend!! WOW!!! Definitely a fan of the triple. The low end grunt out of corners is amazing!! I think Felix and I are going to get along very well!

Ya Marthy, so far, it's been behaving (or maybe I've been behaving), only done wheelies when I've wanted to! LOL!! Having said that, I've yet to really hammer the throttle in first or 2nd gear. Even wide open in 3rd, feel like it gets very light in the front.

I'm loving how flickable it is, the bike before the 6R was a GS500. That bike was very flickable. The FZ-09 is reminding of those days, only with less weight and more than twice the power!

The "so you've survived this long!" kit ...

No way in the wold that bike (or even me) can handle 195 HP! Flash + exhaust + tune that thing get 112 HP and 60 ft.lb of torque from 5K! From 5K to 11K that bike is fast... I had to invest some serious $$$ just to keep the front end down in 3rd gear LOL

Marthy, that shock is proving to be hard to find. I don't know how the supply is in the US, but I've only found 1 available to me and the guy wants a firm $200 for it. Seems high compared to all the great prices the FZ-09 forum members have found them for.

I was the first one to do the ZX10 shocl swap on the FZ09... Ebay got cleanup pretty good ever since. There's other good options out there now, even FZ09 specific upgrade. If you're not in a hurry check Ebay every now and then or call some local shop around.
