Thanks. Yeah it was definitely a pucker moment. lol. I'm guessing that besides just pure luck, I think having rode dirt bikes for many years may have helped me out since I didn't go into panic mode when the rear started to slide out on me. Riding dirt helps you get used to the feeling of...
Thanks a lot guys. I think I am gonna get me some simple green uncut and scrub the tire with that and some scotch brite pads. Then maybe hit it up with some more alcohol after I rinse it. I plan on taking the wheel off since I am gonna need to change my chain and sprockets. Thanks again for the...
I wanted to get some feedback from you guys as to whether I should change and scrap my rear tire. Basically what happened to me is my chain popped off while I was riding (yep should have tightened it before I went riding) and did some damage to my bike which included puncturing the oil filter...
Mine is lowered 2" since I have Apex clip ons. It handles much better IMO. The only negative so far is the horn bracket does contact the front fender if you hit any big bumps and your going somewhat fast, but I have never had any issues with scraping the bottom of the bike anywhere.
I put the bike up on stands, both front and back. I Had to take off the front fender first in order to fit the stem in the hole and I also took off the horn mounting bracket which gave me a little more clearance with the stand. I then took off the brake calipers and hung them from the frame with...
Here is my 2011. I still have a bunch of things/mods I want to do to her, but I think she has come quite a ways from what the stock bike looked like.
I scored a pretty good deal on some Q2 sets that someone was selling as race take offs. They still have tons of life left on them and I was able to get three sets for $120. Installed the front myself yesterday. The bike does feel a little different when I'm turning. So far I like them. Still...
So I finally got around to painting my forks. I used etching primer and semi-gloss black paint. I did take the forks off the bike so I could do a better job on them. I sanded them with some red scotch brite pads then cleaned them really good, masked them off and applied two coats of primer and...
I used a heat gun to get all mine off and then a little bit of "goo gone" to get off the little bit of glue that was left behind. Took me about an hour to do the tank, swingarm, and the "FZ6R" fairing stickers.
I have a 180 mounted on my bike and it works fine. My rim is at least 5.0 or maybe even closer to 5.5 depending on if you measure to the very outside of the lip. Either the manual is retarded or the guy I got the bike from put a wider rim on it.
I have taken the front reflectors off every bike I've ever had. lol. Can't stand the way they look, and the only reason they are put on there in the first place if because of the D.O.T hoops that manufactures have to jump through to be able to sell their products in the good ol USA.
