did you try another spray method on your test helmet? Maybe the type of gun is spraying it too hard causing coverage issue??

The old helmet I sprayed was using do spray cans. DYC recently started telling people there are some coverage issues especially with white, and I think orange is probably more like a tinted white than tinted black.
I progressively moved the spray gun up until I almost immediately got a run. Gave the tank the last 3 coats like that.
And guys, sorry if it seems like I'm shooting everyone's ideas down.... I'm a teacher in problem-solving mode. Don't be offended. I'm grateful for the help and brainstorming!!

I really appreciate the help though.I'd paint tonight except it's raining bad all weekend, something about a tropical storm, I dunno. Not supposed to spray plastidip with high humidity. Once it dries out I'll do black, then white, the orange and see how it turns out.

Update
I peeled everything I painted and took apart the entire front cowl. As I peeled up the plastidip, it turned into the color orange I was hoping for. Even though it was going to rain and my neighbor above me was yelling at me for paint fumes going in her house (CLOSE YOUR SLIDING DOOR!), I got some work done. Walked some pieces down to the end of the street and painted the tank and cowl black (4 coats spray can) and then white (about 4 coats, spray can). I have no spray cans left.
All black, the two pieces looked great. Smooth and clean. Add the white and it doesn't get as smooth. I tried every trick I know and the white finish is still a little "po-corn-y." The good news is, it feels smooth enough for orange. It's raining now, and raining tomorrow, but SOON I will get my orange on it and see how it sits.

Painting.....
Long story - because of my neighbors I'm painting in a closed garage with no ventillation.... sure I'll rant about that on youtube.
For now, what you should be worried about is I am getting the orange on. If your black and white base coats go on good, orange will come out well. If your white coat leaves something to be desired, the orange will look bad. I figured the orange coat will cover imperfections.... nope, sorry, other way around.
I've found that
1. Black plastidip, when applied well, dries to a very smooth finish
2. White plastidip, no matter what you do, wants to be speckled
3. Black plastidip covers mistakes well
4. All other colors don't cover your @$$
5. Apparently there is a tip for smoother spray, try next time for white
My orange doesn't look bad, I'm just a perfectionist. Actually, the tank is coming out really nice. A bit florescent for my taste, but I heard it fades in the sun quickly. Well, if I love having an orange bike maybe I'll paint it for good.

Typed that message above, did one more coat, peeled the tape, and got out. Still feeling sick....

I understand your reason, just dont do it.
Don't want you passing out and ending up dead. Really dangerous to your health. Get a proper respirator as well. Stay safe brother. We want you to stick around for a while longer. 
I painted my boat in the garage with the windows open, respirator (probably the wrong one) and I almost had to crawl out of the garage. Hit me hard before I realized I was getting woozy. Took a long while before I started feeling normal again. Paint can be some nasty stuff on you and your brain.
That color is lookin good BTW.

Thanks Jay, I appreciate the concern. I didn't think it would be too bad. Like you said, I was ok one minute, and then it kinda all hit me at once. Respirator helped, but you're right, no more being stupid.

Ventilation and respirator indeed... But it is looking very good man!! Nice work so far!!!
My dads restored cars for at least 30 years.
When he has to spray in his garage, he'd install a window fan blowing in for fresh air.Then lower the overhead door onto a box fan blowing outside.Also he'd tape a few furnace filters onto the overhead door so that the fan on the ground can't stir up debris in the garage.
It isn't perfect, but it'll clear out the fumes in a minute or two.

I really dig the color, first with black and orange it was meh, think white brought the color out a lot. Good job so far bud. Will be very unique all said and done.

That's a much better color, how many coats in all this time? Your making me want to do mine, but the problem is I would have to plasti-dip the actual frame to the color I want, as red will not match.

About 4 coats of black, about 4 of white, and 4-6 of orange

If the speckle in the dip really bothers you like it did me try doing a 50/50 mix. I bought a gallon of pre-thinned dip and thinned it 50/50 using Xylene. It took a lot of patience to get it right and also to wait for this stuff to cure. Plasti- dip holds up very well. I'll just post pictures so you can see and tell me what you think.
All about cure time.
Here is a picture from when I went down at 20mph, btw I finally put my sliders on.
