Yeah the 26 is definitely more 'close quarters' The 19 looks like it has the rail system too in case you want to mod it with a tach light or laser. Pretty sweet!

If you want accurate check out the cz75's

I did this at the range with my cz-75 sp-01, put all 18 on the paper at 50yds!!!! With a frickin 9mm 4.7? Barrel, those guns are way more accurate then I will ever be

Big pistol is a CZ SP01 9mm, the peewee is a Keltek P3AT .380 that I carry, and the carbine is a AR-15. A buddy and I built it with CMMG mil spec upper and lower, chrome lined 1:9 barrel, forged receiver, timney trigger group. it is a blast to shoot. .556

I have the 19 and while I CC it, it's not very well concealed. The waistband holster I use with it shows up unless I have a winter coat or other bulky clothing over it. Still, it's nice and light even with the 15 rd mag.

Not just in theory, but in fact. All things equal, a longer barrel will be more accurate. It will also pack more of a punch with the same ammo, as the bullet will exit with greater velocity due to the longer time the expanding gases have to act. Barrel length plays a big part in impact energy.

But, the full size is harder to conceal. However on the far side of the spectrum, I don't like the baby Glocks because they only fill half my man.

So a few weeks ago I picked up my first Glock, the G23 compact .40.

It's amazing, as accurate as I would ever need it to be, and has taken over as my carry gun. I'm wearing it concealed as I type this.

I foolishly avoided Glocks for the past 20 years. Dumb biases. This just might be the best all-around handgun I have ever owned.

Indeed, a very nice firearm. I want to get one of those too one day. I still like my baby glock though for CC.:thumbup:

Nice, I have that same Keltek, smallest/lightest .380 out there I think. But it shoots for shit IMO. I clean her regularly but the couple times I've shot her at the range was miserable with terrible accuracy and jamming. I like the grip you have on there though, nice, maybe that helps because it's hard as shit to hold and fire. Feels like it is about to fly out of my hands at any moment.:thumbup:

That could be your problem, how your holding it. Maybe try a tighter grip, or higher grain ammo

Maybe your right, have you ever shot one though? They're a trip, I can barely get one other finger on the grip other than my trigger finger. It's a really cool James Bond'ish gun though. If you have jeans with a big enough watch pocket it fits in there

I haven't shot the keltec but I do work for masterpiece arms (heat treating lots of there parts) and have shot their protector 380 which is supposed to be very similar and has some of the same issues, I had to have pretty tight grip on it to keep it from failing to eject, a lot tighter then I hold any other semi

So how cool is this? Where I work? Sig Sauer is moving in across the street! Planned production is 2000 weapons every 24 hours. They are moving production from Exeter, NH to Portsmouth, NH on Pease Tradeport. I'm hoping that as neighbors, we can maybe get some behind-the-scene tours and wiggle out some discounts.

I decided to check up on more of Sig Sauer's products. I never knew about this one. And it's about $600 for the 2x .40 kit where you get a great tactical and a compact concealed in one box. Sweet!

I might have to read the whole thing soon. I went to a Gun show over the weekend and I'm considering taking the concealed class and summit my application. I like to go to the range every now and then to practice shooting and at the same time for personal protection. As I get older the need to be prepare... just in case. Muay Thai serve me well for the few time I did needed it but never know...

So what's the best 1st gun out there... (might be the only one too)

Definitely something concealable that you like to shoot. I have a G26 and love it. Walther P99 is a nice CC gun, Sig makes a very nice pistol. Springfield XD is another decent gun.

Just make sure you are comfortable with it and you can build a good muscle memory with it while practicing.

So anyone have any side by side experience comparing the Glock 19 with a Springfield XD? They look like very similar guns, spec'd out very similar, but the XD seems to be about $120 cheaper everywhere I've looked. Is this going to be a you get what you pay for situation? Is the Glock worth the extra cash or is it more that you're buying a well known brand?
