I was in Chandler at a buddy's house for the weekend. Went to Bass pro Shops, Walmart and Brunchies...
Did an oil change today and synched the throttle bodies.
The engine runs smooth as silk from the stnc job and the shifting is super nice now. I never would have believed it but the amsoil really made the shifting smooth and easy.
Anyone else have a change in the shifting after an oil change?

Yes. Once I put in the Rotella T6 synthetic...it was noticeably smoother. After every oil change, it initially feels smoother.
I've got to try amsoil for my next oil change... everyone that has put it in their bike has said their shifting is a lot smoother... I don't really notice a difference with Castrol.
Discovery
While changing the oil on Saturday, after I removed the oil filter and let the bike sit for 20 minutes on it's side stand, I had an idea. I had fully warmed the bike to about 190F just before changing the oil so I could drain all the parrafin based Motul 10-40 out in advance of the Amsoil 10-40 synthetic.
The oil was dripping every 2 seconds or so and I decided to tip the bike upright and then back leaning on the sidestand and a lot of oil came out. Bingo.....
I leaned the bike to the right and back and more oil came out. I did this several times until the flow stayed the same.
Guessing I got out about 1/4 pint of oil that was trapped in the engine.

Not at all.. in order for us to get it, and discounted, my brother was a "vendor."
Now that he's in Canada we will have to regroup.

Thats not bad, $.50 off a quart.
If I can get my brother back in the swing of things we could get it at $7 a quart. That's what I used to get it for but no promises atm.
Ok, so I'm not retarded. Amsoil is one of those "Not sold in stores" kinda deal. I guess I will will just shop around the web.

oil change
i didnt have an oil wrench either to change the stock oil filter. I really wasnt into getting oil all over the the place so i used channel locks to get the filter off. I just sqiushed the filter enough to get a good grip and the filter came off no problem it took about 45 seconds. Then of course i got the filter with the bolt on the end from the yammy shop i bought my bike from...cause man the stock filter was on there pretty tight.

Well, not necessarily. I have a filter wrench that supposedly fits our size oil filter. Unfortunately, they are made of plastic and don't tend to grab the filter tightly, so it just slips around the filter and never turns it. I used the Purolator oil filter this last time and the outside is very roughly textured. We'll see if that makes a difference in the grip power of the filter wrench. :don'tknow:

don't know if the plastic one you have is like mine... mine is made for two sizes, you just have to make sure it's seated all the way down. Just setting it on there doesn't get the filter into the tightest part of the socket.

yeah, guess mine is just a little taller. what you might try is folding a paper towel and using between to take up the space... it should get a grip on it then.
Funny you should mention that....
I have actually tried to get a better grip on the oil filter by wrapping it first with one of those rubber jar-lid-opener-thingies (the technical term). That didn't work either. :banghead: I think I might try and find one of the adjustable belt kind.

eh, I tried one of those on my car.... it'll work if you have no other option, but I wasn't impressed.... it's in the bottom drawer of the tool box
