Time to say goodbye

It's with a heavy heart that I say goodbye, brothers and sisters. I thought about this before... but now it's time. If I was in a bubble, the most important thing in my life besides my faith would be my motorcycle and riding. However, I'm not in a bubble. I have a wife, a wonderful son, and soon a daughter. A friend just experienced the death of a loved one, ATGATT, riding the speed limit, through no fault of his own. As much as I never felt complete before I found riding, I love my family too much to risk them being without a father.

Owning and riding my FZ6R has been 4 of the best years of my life. I've made friends, I've traveled, I've taught some other riders life saving techniques, I've ridden next to my wife, and I've had a soulful experience cagers just don't understand.

My motorcycle is going up for sale here and locally. I realize it will probably sit until the weather warms up some, but that's alright. If you know me in person or through my videos, you know that you probably won't find a better maintained and loved motorcycle in my area. If anyone is looking, please send them my way. Admins rejoice, details will be in a proper sale thread in the proper place, please do not ask questions here. And yes, I will be parting or trading a few pieces, also refer to the build thread.

I thank many of you for your in-person and digital camaraderie. If you're ever passing through Maryland and need an air compressor and some wrenches, a bed, or a few beers, my door is always open.

sounds like a tough decision, but i understand. giving up riding for good or just taking a break for a while?

if you do consider getting back on, having life/health ins can help with some peace of mind. something you should do anyway with a growing family.

really like how the paint pops on that first pic. lot of nice mods done to the bike, someone is going to get a great deal.

edit - forgot to mention thanks for your youtube vids. very helpful when working on my bike.

I hope to get back in the saddle one day, but I fear it might be until my kids hit college like some of my colleagues.

Plastidip isn't hard to do if you prep it right and choose the right colors. I can help you out if you want to replicate it

Sorry to hear that Bro. If this is how you feel, you need to listen those sign. Maybe you'll get back on it down the road.

I honestly haven't rode much this pass year. I bet I put max 1K miles or so on my FZ09. Some health issue early in the year and lack of nice place to ride mostly contribute to it. I did mountain bike a solid 1200 miles and about 500 road miles. My new passion this pass 2 years. Been racing here and there, actually podium my last 5 races with four 2nd place and one 1st.

Maybe. Seen a few beat ones around a grand over here. Can't fit two baby seats in a Miata.... well maybe with a lot of modification. Wait, now the wheels are turning, what did you do to me!? Has there ever been a Miata wagon!? Is that the greatest or worst idea in history?????

I can relate. Sold my dirt bikes and all the goods years ago as they all sat there doing nothing to often. Well that and cash do to hard times. As the kids hit mid to late teens picked up the FZ6 in early 2011. Like Marthy I seem to be riding less and less. 2000 mi in 2016.

No need to be stranger just because you're not riding.

Yup, I waited until mine were all teens... now I'm gonna be a grandpa in another month or so... even after hitting and walking away from the accident, I'm still bummed every day I hop in the car an head to work... but I'm probably not going to be able to afford a ride until I get some cc debt under control, so probably good timing for me anyways. I know a lot of my friends who won't dare commute, but will hop on for a weekend ride away from traffic or only do track days, all what risks you are willing to take and it's a personal decision that nobody else can make for you.

Keep in touch, maybe we can still get together for some of those car nights and have some ice cream!

Excellent choice. Unless you can find a deal on a Lotus Elise you won't find many cars that will give you the lightweight thrill of an MX-5.
