So back on May 25 I had a nasty encounter with big buck (about 8 points or so). I was coming out of a turn and there was a huge deer about 6-8 feet off the road to the right. Naturally I let off the gas which made the bike pop and crack (no cat) because of the full exhaust. When the deer heard me he looked up and darted right out in front of me. I had absolutely no time to react except to grab the brake. Needless to say I hit the deer at about 50 MPH and flew over the handlebars. Before the deer went down I hit the deer with the right side of my helmet and shoulder area which sent me helicoptering and bouncing off the pavement and into a ditch about 12 feet off the road. Luckily there was a gentleman in a car about 20 yards behind me that saw the deer get up and run off and my bike doing cartwheels about 150 feet down the road. He jumped out of his car and rushed to my aid and called 911. I didn't loose consciousness but was pretty messed up and couldn't move. An ambulance arrived within 5 minutes and had me at the best trauma hospital in 30 minutes. I suffered a lot of injuries and am still on the mend. Broken clavicle (now has plates and screws), Broken shoulder blade ( also has plates and screws), Broken shoulder socket (now has screws), ribs 3-8 on the right side were all broken (may need surgery on them to add plates and screws), collapsed right lung, L5 and L7 vertebrae have fractures (should heal fine as of today), and some road rash that is still healing on my knees, hands, elbows and right shoulder. I'm lucky to be alive! Needless to say the bike is totaled and I'm probably never going to be 100% again. I'm not sure if I'll ever ride again, I know I don't want to go through this again! Here's some pics of the damage. I loved that bike and will miss it and riding for sure! BTW I had full gear on.
