Running back down there today to wrangle them into a container for relocation... just waiting to pick up my herp tongs...

copperheads, I see them out here all the time.I think the skin is light in color like that right before they shed or something.They are usually a little darker, but heres a good comparison of one the same color/shade

Yeah, they're Copperheads...
Went down after work to round 'em up, and they'd moved... Went back and they were back under the stairs... but, of course, didn't have my trapping gear (in the background of my new stiff Sidi perf boots -- my luck I'll get bit through a perforation).

They're all over the place down here. They love golf courses -- all the water traps provide food, and lots of places to sun without getting bothered. And, there's a golf course right behind my place here.
I got a dry bite from one of these years ago (mistook it for a corn snake at dusk, and grabbed it like a fool)... hardly worse than a bee sting, however, if it had been a hot bite, an adult can kill ya...

Going back tomorrow to bag 'em and relocate 'em... (I hate rodents and other vermin more than I hate snakes... I don't kill snakes... my idiot neighbor kills snakes, and now we both have moles in the yard)...

LOL!! I KNOW I would do that also! I HATE Snakes..

Didnt help that when I was dating my now wife, I was wearing shorts and she was playing with a real young snake that her brother had. She dropped it and landed right in my lap!!! I dont think I ever "LIFTED OFF" like a rocket out of a sitting position before in my life like I did then!

Yup. They kill things that can really make a mess. Mostly they'll leave you alone if you leave them alone (they know you're a whole lot more dangerous to them than they are to you), but the danger is missing one in the dark or being stupid.

Most rattlesnake/copperhead/water moccasin (they're closely related) victims in the US have remarkably similar profiles though: Male, 17-24, intoxicated at the time of the bite, and frequently bitten on the primary (grabbing) hand or arm.

Contrary to popular belief, there is no statistical evidence proving that the most common words prior to envenomation are "dude, hold my beer and watch this! There is, however, significant anecdotal evidence suggesting this.

In most years, there are 5-8000 bite victims in the US. Typically fewer than five die and most of those are either children or other "special situations." The odds on an adult dying from a pit viper bite are very, very small.

lol, that's no worse than what I used to see when I was active duty. It was always the big ones that were teh biggest pansies when it came to needles or snakes... lol. But they wouldn't sweat it when they got hit by a bullet, talk about not making sense....

I was flipping a home North of Phoenix and noticed a Gila Monster in the backyard, just off the back porch. Luckily he was just passing through and didn't take up residence.

They are a protected species and I was worried he was going to want to stay.

That would of killed the re-sale value...

Looks poisonous. You wouldn't want that sneaking up behind you in the grass.

I saw a couple of brown and tiger snakes last summer, they give me the creeps.
I like lizards better.
