Sounds like he'll be teamed with Lorenzo... taking Spies' position with Yami...

Good on him... 'bout time. Stoner's been stealing the spotlight too long...

I figured this would happen. That Ducati is a (relative) POS compared to the other bikes. I kind of know what he's feeling with the team not listening to feedback. When I was racing RC Cars at a very high level and was racing for a car manufacturer in England, we ran into similar stuff. We were given prototypes of a car for a major race. They wanted us to let them know what we felt needed to be changed before they released the car. It was a pretty good car but we had a list of things to change. 3 weeks later, (no where near enough time to make the changes we asked for) we get the official announcement of the car by Email before they sent it to all the magazines and online news sites and the car is exactly the same as what we ran and already had. :banghead: They fired our best driver from Finland when he told them the car was not going to ever work and started making major changes to it that they didn't approve of. (one of our jobs was to come up with ideas as development drivers and try things, but apparently only if they thought it was right. :rolleyes: ) It was so frustrating I ended up leaving them and eventually quit racing at that level because I couldn't afford it anymore without sponsors. It was a hobby for me, not a job like some of my team mates and it just wasn't fun anymore. I'm glad I did because I found sportbike riding. :D

Rossi will find at Yamaha what he had there before. Major resources who can make a change, or a part, or whatever he asks for at the drop of a hat. Ducati just doesn't seem to work like that. They get an idea in their head on how something is going to be built and how it "should" work and be damned if they're going to abandon it. Plus they seem to like to be different for the sake of being different. Just like the company I was racing for.

this all sounds like good news to me! :D and totally agree with jon ---^

though i had high ambitions to see what audi would bring to the field with rossi, i feel like Ducati is more a prototype than a gp bike and with a name like rossi needs a bike to put on the podium not a test ride and hope it makes it.

I don't think official word is out yet. All these articles are supposedly rumors?

At least that's what I heard.

It'd be good if Jorge, Rossi, Cal, Pedrosa, Dovi, Bradl and Marquez can mix it up next year on competitive machines. If Ducati finally work out the problem with their bike, maybe they'll be on song, but they have to be trying new chassis combinations to work that out. I still miss watching Marco getting faster every race. I want to see Cal stay on the Monster if he doesn't get the factory ride.

The ducati race bikes are trash. Their frames are stone age old and they weremt making improvments fast enough to compete. Im excite then rossi will be back on a yamaha, a machine that can win ;)

Youre right that they werent making changes fast enough. But the frame this year is brand new to them, back to a traditional frame like all the other teams are running. But they spent so much time trying to make their frameless bikes work, theyre way behind the development rate that everyone else is. I got a book recently that im about halfway through called MotoGP Technology - Second Edition. They go through each bike from the beginning of the 990 era up through about 2010 and show and describe in detail the progression of the bikes. Some details are still wrapped up in secrets. But they have a lot lore detail than i would have expected. Some teams have finished the season with bikes that are completely different than they started with. Different frames, swingarms, suspension, even different engine configurations in cases. Reading through the book, Ducati is the one that you can tell dont make changes quickly and get stubborn about not really taking the rider into consideration and their designs "should work" and its your fault if its not working.

Surely they can make 3-5 different frames with different flex characteristics, put Rossi on them, get the feedback and work out wtf is wrong with their frames ? Instead ... I don't know what they do, I'm sure its complex (money related).

Then once they finally work it out, make sure it doesn't happen again.

Not sure how they can run a series with weight and tyre changes during the season, then banning Stoner from racing with the soft rear for a couple of races.

I'm glad I watched the last few years of 250 racing, that was good racing. Moto2 is good too.

CRTs ? hmmm, 50 HP down is too much. 210-230 HP compared to 270-280HP.

In any case, once Rossi is winning again, then the mainstream audience can be enthused again and the money will flow for all.

Single ECU seems to be working for BSB and F1. I was against this at first, but without a rev limit,(keep them <230HP) it won't do nothing.

Should be interesting though!! See a few things...
Was it Spies or the bike? (though Lorenzo can sure rock it)
Is Rossi past his prime, the Ducati really bad like they were saying or what? (since Hayden is usually on par with Rossi it seems)
I remember reading that Stoner won on the same bike that Rossi couldnt do anything with...

Most likely they will make one, as the Rossi edition 2009 & 2010 R1's & R6's are still very high-priced, sought after bikes.

Back when I was shopping, the best price I could get for a 2009 Rossi edition brand new was $11500 OTD. And that was from a dealership desperate to unload it cuz they had too much R6 inventory. Most dealerships wanted $13500 plus tax and license. The R1 Rossi was something like $15.5k plus taxes & licenses... Just too darn expensive. But they were selling...

Problem with a bike like that are the plastics are difficult to replace. Plus it's so nice that u almost don't wanna ride it. LoL. Well, I just don't think it's worth spending $19k... Way too expensive
