I've been reading alot and have seen that people have been putting the cam from an fz6 but what I want to know if its possible to use a different bikes cam like an r6 or something else besides the fz6

There have been members on the FZ6 forum that have fitted R6 cams to their Fz6.. and There have been members of this forum that fit fz6 cams to their fz6r...

Sooo.. through deductive reasoning.. an r6 cam could fit... maybe..

Not sure how it would run or what it would do.

I have fz6 cams in my fz6r, but r6 cams will likely cause damage. Too much lift in comparison to our engines. Marthy is the resident expert so he could better explain the why's of why it won't work.

R6 cams would be way too much. Too much lift and more duration will kill the mid range. FZ6 cams are about as much as you can add and still borderline safe. Don't forget the 6R spin only 12.5K... not 14K RPM.

That should get you in the low 80HP at the wheel @ 10500 RPM or so. Not much, like nothing under 4K but wale up pretty good once pass 4K. Great mid range gain and pull hard all the way to 12500!

Exhaust & tune is about 5-8HP gain. About the same gain with FZ6 cams.

Keep in mind stock rear wheel hp is around 67 hp, so low 80's at the wheel is a huge improvement especially since some of the mods lighten the bike as well (exhaust, fender eliminator, Flush mounts, clip-ons, etc). At the crank it should be pushing low 90's. I'd love to hit the 100hp mark, but don't think it'll every happen. I'm happy with the improvements that came from the full Marthy power package. She pulls so much harder now. She never had much below 4k anyways. I definitely don't see the need to upgrade anytime soon with the way she rides now. When I'm financially ready for an upgrade I'm leaning towards (Ninja 1000, FZ1, and GSXR 750). Gixxers riding position isn't too bad for a super sport. The other 2 are pretty relaxed positions. Just can't bring myself to get a cruiser yet. Maybe someday though (50's or later).

Hey do you or anyone you know still sell the pre fabbed fz6 cams for fz6r I been looking into it and I want to do it, but the area I live in nobody does that type of stuff

I got mine on Ebay and machine my cam gear to fit the FZ6 cams

What are your thoughts about stock fz6r with 4 degree ignition timing advance, O2 sensor delete and K&N filter?

Can't go wrong with this proven setup. I'll add the FZ6 throttle too. Got me 88WHP on a 60K miles engine... that's about +20WHP from brand new stock.
