New 1000cc FZ6R Clone

Suzuki has upped the ante with a 1000cc, relaxed position sport bike that WEIGHS THE SAME as the FZ6R: the 2016 GSX-S1000F

I'll say it again, a 1000cc, 145hp, 78.2 lb-ft, full faring, $10,999 fizzer clone that weighs only 474 lbs.

Now I know that we rabbid FZ6R fans are dropping thousands to gain +5hp with Marthy exhausts and flush mount indicator lights. So the new Suzuki GSX-S1000F seems like a bargain for horsepower junkies. Personally I like the FZ6R because I am 5'8" and find the seat height ideal. The GSX-S1000F is way too tall for me at a 33" seat height (according to Motorcycle Ergonomics). But for those of you who are not vertically challenged I think this bike makes a lot of sense. It looks like a sleeper track day beast!

How the heck did they manage a 1000cc engine with nearly the same curb-weight as our 600cc FZ6R? I'm not done riding. I do have to change some things, though. My Tora Tanshi was just too comfortable.

The accident I had was unavoidable for me. I was just cruising along to work and BANG!

If I'm going to continue to ride, and I intend to, I've got to make a choice. I can go cruiser and be bored as heck, or maybe, maybe... Something that will not let me just cruise along...

I can't afford any new bike. But you've given me personally some food for thought. Lots.

@buzzbomb I had a very serious back injury a few years ago and honestly thought I might never rider again. However, religiously doing physio and learning about motorcycle riding positions got me back in the saddle. One neurosurgeon said it to me best "change your overall lifestyle so that you don't have to give up what you love".

Not sure of the nature or extent of your injuries other than what you posted in the rider down thread. But I'm convinced that unless you're missing your throttle hand you will be able to ride the bike of your choosing. And the Suzuki GSX-S1000F looks like a ridiculously good choice for the money.

Is it just me, or does it look very strange to have the mirrors mounted on the handlebar of a fully faired bike?

comfort... fuel mileage... insurance....

That's why I like my 6r.... though I have pretty much made up my mind, my next bike will be a strom 650, test road it and was impressed, plus should be able to explore more than pavement... I personally don't need a liter bike... Nice looking bike though and price isn't too bad.

I wonder if dropping the "R" will lower insurance costs...

I didn't drop thousands. I dropped the weight of my bike quite a bit through mods over the last few years and upped the hp significantly through relatively cheap and easy mods (fz6 cams are cheap and easy and exhaust is cheap if you can do it yourself). You can drop a ton of money for tbr and such, but it's quite possible to mod the bike cheap. My wife would never let me spend a ton on my baby. She's jealous! LOL!
