wow I feel like such a NOOB... haha that cuz I am.... so I take it you simply remove it all. just for the purpose of removing dead wheight?AIS system.
AIR INDUCTION SYSTEM Yamaha FZ6R (FZ6RBCB) 2012 OEM Parts - Cheap Cycle Parts
Minus the valve cover that is...
You remove it if you have block off plates (blocks the two squares on the valve cover when you remove it all). It is done for tuning purposes and to stop/reduce backfiring/popping on decel. You can remove it for the weight which is not much, or you can simply plug up the tube going into the air box like I did which does the same thing while leaving the system in place.wow I feel like such a NOOB... haha that cuz I am.... so I take it you simply remove it all. just for the purpose of removing dead wheight?
is there noe thread about this? I searched it too
all makes sense now. thanks JYou remove it if you have block off plates (blocks the two squares on the valve cover when you remove it all). It is there for emissions only. It dumps air into the system to burn off unburnt fuel. When you get an aftermarket exhaust, you get all the popping etc. Blocking it solves most if not all of it.
For tuning purposes, it needs to be blocked otherwise the tuner cannot get a true A/F reading to properly set you up a good map.
Another pro for removing it, is that it frees up a bit of space up there so when doing your plugs and such, you have a little more room to work.all makes sense now. thanks J
