You know itoh yes i can tell bored and working realllyy hard on keeping your postwhoremuffin =)
i do not have a naked bike but i would have to say that the fairings on the FZ6R do not improve top speed because my bike tops out at 135ish bouncing off the rev limiter but they will improve acceleration in the over 40mph range BUT at the cost of added weight and remember -8lbs is like adding 1hp to the bike!!! sooo i would also like to see a comparison perhaps ill try one this summer =)Have you noticed a difference in acceleration and/or top speed?
I have wondered how well the fairings work at improving aerodynamics. Some of the most fuel efficient vehicles are aerodynamically very well designed but do the fairings on the 6R actually do anything or are they just cosmetic? I would love to see a comparison of naked vs fairings on acceleration, maximum speed, and fuel economy on the FZ6R.
no prob man my pleasure haha and ya the 8 cell batt i got is VERY light but i bet the 4 cell drops it another 1-2lbsI might have to do a few more mods to drop some weight or I could lose some weight. Mods it is! Actually I'm doing both. LOL! Already have some of the weight reduction mods. I want to change out the battery eventually. I know there is a substantial weight difference between stock and aftermarket. Dropping the stock bread box soon! Thanks Perdurable for updating.
that would be nice ill add it in at some point get me a weight if you can? What about removing the passenger foot pegs and brackets ? That should shed a few more pounds......
XX#11--1lbs-----Smaller Aftermarket Sprockets [Faster Sprocket wear]
What?
Faster sprocket wear?
If you buy Renthal sprockets and a DID (or better) chain, you'll save more than 1lb and it will give less sprocket wear...Renthal are hard anodized long lasting products.
Hard coating give you about 60-70 Rc if I can remember, yes this is stronger than some steel. But the coating is about 0.015'' deep. Once you wear thru the sprocket is like butter soft!so you are saying that an anodized aluminium sprocket is stronger then a steel one.... ARE YOU HIGH:bsflag:
steal buy an anodized aluminium sprocket and watch how fast they sharktooth!!! mine only tood a few months =/
quote for you from a jib arm maker
"The aluminum-vs-steel, strength-vs-weight issue is one that is commonly misunderstood, especially among jib makers, sometimes even among engineers.
The misconception arises from the partial truth that there are aluminum alloys that are as strong as, or stronger than, steel. It’s more accurate to say that there are some aluminum alloys that are stronger than some steel alloys.
One of the most widely used high-strength aluminum alloys is alloy 6061 with T6 temper. Pound for pound, 6061-T6 is stronger than some steel alloys, but not as strong as others. The fact is, for any given high-strength aluminum alloy, there are higher-strength steels that outperform aluminum in strength-to-weight. Factors other than strength and weight eventually dictate which material is a better choice for a particular application. "
agreed anodizing is just a thin layer =/ i love the Z man its a beast i have almost dumped it 50 times haha i just about loose it every time i ride it.... anything 50% gives you a wheelie in 1st and 100% gives you a 50 foot streek of rubber haha its soo funn!!!! but i find my self doing silly things on it because i can like passing 6 cars in the rain.... because i can... its becoming bad :banghead:Hard coating give you about 50ish Rc if I can remember, yes this is stronger than some steel. But the coating is about 0.015'' deep. Once you wear thru the sprocket is like butter soft!
Alloy sprocket on my ride last 4-5K miles pushing it. Steel one last 15-20K miles. Dart even put more... (not recommended!!!) LOL
So, how you like the Z1000?
What battery can I buy to lose the 3 lbs
CorrectYou lose about 7 lbs not 3. The stock battery weighs a little over 10 lbs. The battery in this thread is a 6 cell deep cycle and weighs about 3 lbs if I recall correctly.
