If I get a set to "test" I could always do a back to back on the Dyno on my cycle. Including Butt Dyno run! Keep in mind that I have the FZ6 cams and that might throw off the result a bit. But the gain should be similar regardless. I gotta build 2 more exhaust tonight but I will look at it tomorrow. I need:
Total runner length from valve opening to throttle, to end of stacks. min and max. I'll try to get the measurement tonight... if I can. Need to ship tomorrow!

even with dif cams it will verify that the design allows more air in and increases performance.
take your time this project is not a rush obviously but I don’t want it to linger too much otherwise it will get dropped.

while you’re looking at the air box for dims please note how stock v stack is rubber and goes all the way thru the air box then is clamped onto the air intake valves.... that makes it extremely difficult to replace entirely thus my hybrid design.

Took a look at it and I could be done on the cheap! But I'll take my airbox apart at home and try to install the short one (all 4) and see how it goes. So if your not too fancy about how it looks... a nice piece of aluminum tubing (buy a 10 ft pipe) and all you need to do is cut the pipe the length you want to test. Then you cut the stock velocity stack and keep about 3/4" on each end to pit a hose clamp. Once you get what you think is the proper length you can design a set. Or reverse engineering way, find a bike with same characteristic than the 6R and copy the length.
But since you don't want to have a full on race engine, I eye ball the small one in the middle and shorter one on the outside. Kind of keeping the same ratio, just a bit shorter.

According to some old notes the stock velocity stack are tune to work at peak efficiency between 8300 and 9000 RPM. Seams about right for a stock configuration. So now shorten everything by 30mm (short one in 2-3 and cut the long one by 60mm for 1-4) will make everything peak from 9000 to 9800. Can confirm those numbers to be 100% accurate but it's a good start.
As of right now I installed all 4 shorty. I'll give that a try for a bit. Since they are all the same length my peak efficiency should be 9K. I'll post pic in few minutes...

Here's few pics of my airbox mod, before and after. Then what it looks like with all short velocity stacks. I also include a pic of my balls... allen socket. Ideal tool to remove the airbox. You can easily make one by cutting a regular ball allen key and stuff it in a 4mm or 5/32 socket. (you know those socket you never use and always wonder why they sell those...lol)

Appreciate it bud, those clamps were driving my nuts before.
After a few good ride from and to work I can say it's a keeper! How much the gain was is hard to tell. But it made things a bit smoother with the air box mod + FZ6 cams. I don't feel like I lost on the bottom end but did made the mid range a bit better.
