[Diluted]

Instead of boring you all with a huge page of stuff to get to the end result, I'll just cut to the chase. I'm considering returning my bike to stock (well as much as I can) and selling it.

Now for the page of stuff...

First and foremost, I have a baby on the way (September). She is/will be priority #1 for me and I want to be around for her. It's not that I don't trust my abilities, I just can't predict what everyone else is going to do.

Second, I haven't really ridden any more than before even now that the bike is at my house. Truth be told, I haven't really missed it. Maybe it's just the fact that it's so crowded around here and the lack of any good roads make riding rather..dull...I have to travel at least 1.5hrs of just highway to get to anywhere remotely decent, that's not my idea of fun.

Lastly, this has nothing to do with money or a different bike. I don't want another bike, at least not living where I am. Perhaps in a few years we'll move somewhere a little less crowded with nicer roads and I'll decide then whether or not I want to pick it up again. I've enjoyed riding and under the right circumstances I'd like to continue to ride.

I haven't completely made up my mind yet. If I do end up selling I'll certainly hang around (even though I haven't really posted much lately). I've made some awesome friends here and this is a great community. I may just return it to stock now and sell the aftermarket stuff that's easy to remove.

Honestly, just because you don't trust people don't give up riding in fear of getting killed. Honestly, if your daughter is meant to lose you then its meant to be, I learnt that the hardway when my dad passed away a little over 2 years ago. Theres nothing you can do, if your meant to go your meant to go weather your on a bike, in a car, or just walking down the street. It will happen when it happens.

I agree with you and I say that all the time to people who tell me it's dangerous. Really it's just not fun riding highway all the time. I don't usually have a whole lot of time to take 5 hours trips to go visit nice roads.

As for the riding part, no biggy.... If its just not doing it for ya then dont force yourself to do it. It is a very risky activity and you and your family comes first. No one will hold that against you.

:thumbup: Hopefully when we're ready to move I can persuade the SO to go a little further west. Then I wouldn't have an issue since there would be some actual nice roads to ride.

I could be worst! Move to Florida... I have a nice little gig now (job) I'll stick around here for a bit. My wife is going to Palm Beach State College so I'll wait until she's done... but after that I'll like to move. There's a lot of nice to say about Florida, don't get me wrong. At the same time not much to do outside of beach and shopping mall. Having it my way... Cali would my my first choice. Not too much south... too much traffic. Or somewhere in the Carolina's... Nice road to ride and great outdoors activities... We will see. Might like to have a kid too soon. I'll be turning 4-0 next Christmas... but my wife just turn 27 last March...

Congrats on the little one. Whatever happens we will still be your brothers. Just something for thought, one day you'll walk out to the garage and she'll (6R) will be gone. I had a SV650s a few years ago. I sold it for my wife/son on the way etc... Don't get me wrong, family is first. But man, did I miss her. I would sometimes forget, walk out into the garage and she wouldn't be there... You don't really know what you had until it's gone... (I'm just saying) Good luck on whatever you do.

On the bright side, having a baby on the way is AMAZING! Im glad your willing to stick around. If you dont need the money why dont you let her collect dust in the garage and on the special occasion where you get the right hand twisted throttle itch....you can?

Thats what i'm saying. Yes if I HAD to i'd sell my bike for my family in a second, but if I don't NEED the money then I would never do that. I'd rather ride a little then none! I have a coworker who only rode 11 miles in the past year, but he still keeps his bike for if he gets the time.

Hell I work 7am-7pm 5 days a week and 6-12 on Saturdays, I don't have a LOT of free time, but I still manage to go to the gym daily, spend plenty of time with my fiancee, and ride at least 30 minutes some point in every weekend.

I say sell the bike, sell me the two bros and juicebox reeeeaaallllly cheap, then just come hang out with us when you want a weekend away (bike is not required to hang out and enjoy the company). Heck, I'll even let you ride my bike when you come visit.

Seriously... I know a lot of people take a ten or more year break when a new one is on the way. nothing wrong with that, a child takes a lot of your time in those first ten or so years....

but, if money's not the issue, wouldn't it be nice to get out every once in a while and go for a ride, even if it's only a couple times a year?

I too have considered selling the bike, pay off what I owe, sell the truck( I have a company vehical and wife's CRV) and use that money for down payment on a house. Won't be much as truck is worth like $6k and may get $1500 from bike after pay off but we really would like to get into a house and just don't have the $ for that stupid down payment. It's highway robbery I tell ya. Only other way we could get the $ was as a "gift" from someone and work out a payment with them. This market sucks here as it prospered with the crash in 2008. -.-

Congratulations, Diluted. I don't blame you. I have 22 & 24 year old daughters and they grew up really fast. Enjoy the time with your family while you can.

No but seriously, give your child everything you can. If you can make the percentage of living in the child's life, even 5% higher...DO IT! The kid will deserve all that and more.

I have been with a bike on and off from the time I was 16, [1960]. You can always buy one again. I have three daughters and the wife always worried about me in the times I rode. I was in one accident early on but have had good luck from that time on. Once in the wind the calling never leaves.
