Broken down. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Just left work. Doing about 45 mph. Bike starts slowing down, throttle gives me no input. Pull over and I see smoke and smell burning, so I jump off the bike and as I put it on the kickstand I get a splash of gas, more smoke, and more burning.

I'm guessing and hoping that a fuel hose blew off, although how I have no idea. Waiting for a tow truck right now, sitting in the grass getting eaten by bugs. Having a worse day than yesterday. We've got a looooooong story over here about a new bike for the wife than ran great, now doesn't run, now she wants to keep her old bike, and this new one is money we need for other things tied up on it..... just venting. So if that wasn't enough, now I gotta worry about this!

When I get home I need a few drinks!!
 
Hope that all goes well and that its a simple fix man, getting stranded is one of the worse feelings ever so i feel ya

wow that blows man. I feel bad because I feel like ive put my bike thru the ringer and its such a champ and now your bike does this??? not cool
 
be careful, heard bad things about tow trucks... take pictures...

if you suspect a fuel line, surely someone can come by with tools to lift the tank and do a quick inspection???

or if you have the tool kit with you, you can do it as well.

Bummer man! Sorry to hear about this! I hope it does turn out to be something cheap and easy to fix. Good Luck

That is a huge bummer. Did you wish you had fricken Hazzard lights when it started sputtering? I hope your home by now, any report on the problem?
 
I'll get some pics tomorrow, its dark out. Three hours to get home. The big plastic plug that fits on the long white plastic fitting coming off the gas tank popped off. How? No idea. I'll take the wife's bike tomorrow and try my bike out after work for some test runs.

Glad you made it home safe, even though it was 3 hours. Is that plug something you can see on the outside? I know there is that one hose that hangs down near the footpeg but that's not what your talking about is it? im going to super glue mine in lol.
 
Sounds like a simple fix... sorry 'bout all the trouble -- Always a PITA when a bike goes lame, regardless of when, where, how...
 
Turned out it was that fuel connector. It was a PITA to carefully take off when I dipped the bike, so I have no idea how it came off all by itself. Anyway, instead of pictures, I've prepared a short informative video ;) It should be uploaded tonight and I'll drop a link here

ANY IDEA HOW THAT HAPPENED?
 
is the fuel connection with the black plastic hose clip?

The bike still feels a little down on power and sometimes I smell a slight burning. No idea how it came off in the first place, now super paranoid it'll happen again while I'm leaned over, splash my tire, and wipe me out.

This kind of thing happen to anyone else?!

isn't that the line that has a plastic piece that holds the connector from becoming loose? I did not see the plastic piece in your vid. ill have to look to see if I find a pic of my tank or maybe in the manual it will depict it
