any idea on how much powder coating costs? if it's not too expensive might be worth just getting the silver ones and powder coating blue. didn't think of that. Some of the imported ebay levers may use organic dyes in the anodizing process which aren't as resilient as inorganic dyes, (which the pricier ones probably use).... If it's just cosmetic you could powder coat the stock levers which should hold up good. I'm considering this option.
Looks good. Lets see some farther away shots in the light if ya can!
I plan on installing the exhaust that is coming today. I will post pics tonight when I get home of the exhaust before installation. I am sure that it will be like no other on this forum...I haven't heard of anyone that has gotten the Blackline series exhaust...Man it looks good so far, it should look good when all said and done. Hopefully you will have it done soon and u can post pics. looks awesome so far.
I am sure that you will enjoy the bike. I know as soon as I took off for the first time from my dealer, it was awesome. My previous bike was a 1982 Yamaha Maxim XJ750, so this was a huge leap in technology, styling, and performance. It is an all around great bike.As I sit here, waiting for the weather to break enough to test ride the FZ6R at my local dealer, I'm really enjoying reading about your progress. Thanks for the updates and pics.
I agree, and I have to give the credit to my FW for the idea. I then decided to do it and I think that it makes everything come together nicely. I can't wait to see what it looks like with the fairings back on after I install my new exhaust...which should be delivered this afternoon.I like it... I think the blue scoops really brings it together
Lookin forward to seein it myself! :thumbup:I agree, and I have to give the credit to my FW for the idea. I then decided to do it and I think that it makes everything come together nicely. Yes, I mean the black series. I'm sorry, getting that confused with the Blackline Titanium body jewelry. I actually went through Nate with motorcycle gear and got a great deal on everything that I bought. Saved about $400I am curious, by "blackline" do you mean the TBR Black Series exhaust? I keep trying to look up "blackline" and find nothing. If that is what you are talking about then I'm sure it'll look good on the bike. Kind of a stealth look which to me is how your bike looks. Only reason I did not opt for the black series over the standard carbon fiber was because I liked the look of the standard better, and it was less expensive.
I didn't have any issues with alignment, it lined up fine. It wasn't really hard to install, just took some time.Does the chain guard on that hugger line up right? I've heard its off a little. and how hard was it to install?
No offense, it's just me I'm sure, but what a shame to paint beautiful Carbon Fiber like that. It does look good and if it was just a regular plastic piece, no biggie. But I'm just of the opinion that a beautifully molded piece of CF like that is a work of art and is one thing that should never be painted. I know people who used to do CF layup work like that and it's a lot of work. Again, just my opinion. Like I said, it does look good.
Edit: One quick question, is the chain guard section of the hugger shorter than the stock chain guard? I've been thinking about shortening the stock one a little. It just seems like it's a bit longer than it needs to be.
Ah that changes things. They want that much money for a molded piece of plastic with a CF print on it? Then I don't blame you for painting it. Honestly $160 for $5 worth of plastic is insane. The cost of the mold required to make that probably wasn't all that high. For them to charge that much is just as insane as the ridiculous amount they charge for the fairings on these bikes.I think that the chain guard is about the same length, I could hold the stock up to see, but I am sure that it is close. I would have had the same opinion had it been real carbon fiber. It however is not. It is that lovely carbon fiber "look" and honestly looks like a black and silver checkerboard, so it looks pretty bad, especially since I have the Black Two Brothers Carbon Fiber exhaust, which is very real carbon fiber, and next to carbon fiber "look", that looks silly to me. Just my $0.02
