The FZ6R has power but doesn't have the wheel off the ground power like the R6 does. I think if it did then it would be a the price point of the FZ8 and rendered useless.

If the FZ6R/ XJ6 are constantly compared to the ER650, then surely our little mid-sport/ tourer can stand up to a good stoush...

20 years ago, the power on the FZ6R would have put it well into the "superbike" category.

I doubt 5% of the people who ride them are good enough to get anywhere close to the performance level that the bike is really capable of.
 
I find it plenty fast. I find myself sitting at 85 without even realizing it.
 
Agreed, I want a bigger/faster/stronger bike, but that is more for comfort and two up riding better....... And so that a big guy like myself doesnt look like a Gorilla riding a football!! :D

However, all that aside being that the bike has acceleration that can outdo most cars and you can feel the torque in that strong acceleration area:
The acceleration power is a point where you could theoretically get a ticket for show boating...
The top speed is well more than enough to lose your driving ability, get a payday cutting ticket or worse.

I think our bike is plenty fast enough. There are reasons to upgrade, but if you are strictly a street rider, speed isnt one of them.
 
Yeah, quarter mile ET in the low 12s - How many cars can brag of that? And they won't get 50 MPG. And they won't be well under $10K.

This. I still wished they dropped the same engine on the fz6r they did on the FZ6... no reason why we cant have that extra HP :(

I'm going to disagree. The price for that extra power up top on the FZ6 was a midrange that absolutely sucked. Like most sportbikes, you really had to run it at high RPMs to get much out of it. It was one of the biggest complaints Yamaha regularly got about that bike. May have been better for the track and other "performance" situations, but for normal riding on the street at normal speeds, it was far less optimal than the FZ6R engine. Had a beautiful FZ6 available a few months ago and seriously considered it for a lot of reasons. The engine is the primary reason I didn't buy it.
 
If any of you took a ride on my girl you would understand how great the bike run once well tune with the FZ6 cams swap. Still amaze that just a few did it

Do you have dyno numbers after the swap? It just seems like a lot of work involved even if you know what you're doing. Most of us can changed the oil, remove chain, tires, brakes, etc, but a camp swap is beyond most of us. We're not worthy, We're not worthy. :bow::bow::bow:
