I kind of like those icons but I wouldn't want water proof boots, I would prefer something that air can get through and keep my feet from sweating, that's my big problem right now with my current boots, my feet can't breath thus they get really stinky after a long ride. I don't ride in the rain so waterproof is not a concern of mine at all...i like my boots like the ones in the picture.... just over the ankle... and flexible enough to move around in yet sturdy enough to protect you ankle... the texas steer boots are what i use for hiking... i have had mine for 10 years.
i like the icon boots i attached to... they seem to have the same gortex flexible areas like my texas steer boots, they are high enough over the ankle... and are water proof.
none the less nice boots john...i had sidi's for my dirt riding... they are great boots... but not my cup of tea for street application

i like to ride eery chance i get so that added protection means a lot.... i think that gortex textured stuff is breathable but i may be mistaken.
New boots i picked up tonight at the IMS... Great fit.. nice to walk around in and protection in right areas
most gortex is not breathable, that's the whole point behind it, lol.
I'm still hunting for the right boots...
Wrong. GoreTex IS breathable. That IS the point. It is waterproof yet breathable. That's why its more expensive than run of the mill waterproofing.
i was pretty sure the whole idea of gortex was to have a breathable yet water resistant tight knit material with a rather good abrasion resistance hence the reason most military boots are composed of a compound using gortex as the main frame... am i wrong?
