Mods, I put this in New Rider Q & A cause I thought it would be helpful. Feel free to move this thread somewhere else.
I just saved a ton of money on my bike insurance by switching to......
I've been thinking about getting more insurance or comprehensive for a while, but I originally got quotes in the $1500/year range. This is a 28 year old, married, teacher, with a garage, living in a "questionable" crime area.
Anyway, after 1 point on my license for going 9mph over in my cage (and the cop came to court and made sure it stuck) my current insurance went up maybe $50. Looking at a bill right now of just over $500 a year for me and my wife's Ninja 250 (about $60) for only liability, theft, and state minimum. I go down, I pay for all repairs. Decided to jump on the Rider Insurance website and get some quotes.
$240 a year for comparable 30/60/15, $500 deductible and they'll fix the bike if I go down even if it's all my fault, roadside assistance with flat bed towing, battery jump, etc. Are you serious? I called them to make sure I wasn't missing an extra zero in the price. Best part is, I can get full coverage, beef up my insurance, and still save money!
If you aren't on rider or haven't checked out their stuff, DO IT.
