Marthy, if and when you have the time to answer some tune tips:

1) How many miles would I have to run for the stock ECU to "learn" a change in discs?

2) How long would I have to run for the discs to "color tune?"

3) When using the color tune method, do you check all the discs, the first (closests to Supertrapp) or the farthest out?

Hey Craig,

The number of miles depend of the type of driving. The right way to do it is driving hard in the upper range, then kill the engine and coast... then check your exhaust. Spark Plug will give you better reading, but not something you want to do on the side of the rod. I will eye ball within 5 miles should be enough to give you a good reading. Engine need to be in the 180F-190F before starting your reading. If you look at the discs area that should give you an idea. But for a better reading you should remove the discs and look inside the can.

Supertrapp give you some adjustment, but is very limited. You can try adding discs (12). With the PCV I even add SS washer between the first 3 rows of discs. Work fine. I think I draw you a schematic on the back of your invoice...

I am just trying to find the optimal disc tune for out here in the super Sun of Arizona. I doubt a few discs up or down will change the HP much, if any.

It does change the sound for sure though....I can hear it "resonate" at different RPMs.

Main thing, I dont want to run too lean. I know, most say with a fuel injection not much to worry about, but still, I like to be paranoid on the cautious side.

I like to help, answering all question related to exhaust, maps, windscreen too. But if you are going to shoot me a dozen of email about buying an exhaust and turn around and tell me "My friend or mechanic can build that" I guess I will go that route... by the way, can you tell him how to do it?

Common guys! There's a reason why the website, this 25 pages thread is there... to inform. The few $ that I make building exhaust barely cover my expenses. I do it more for the pride of it then making $. I will just appreciate that you understand that I really like to help people, but hate wasting my time.

Thanks Mate! I do it because I'm having fun doing it! I did it for myself at first, then I made it available for all of you. If you really know how much I make per exhaust when everything is all said and done... thrust me, I do it for the love of the sport and helping everyone save $.

Don't worry, I won't let 1 bad spoil it for everyone else... :surrender:

2) What kind of collector would you use to merge the pipes? Would this one work? (mandrel-bends.com) Collector #CL2-17520-SS

Just toying with the idea of doing it...

Nothing wrong about being a DIY... read post #11. All your answer are there. Once you get the parts in hand it's kind of strait forward where it goes. With a little bit of hammering and cutting it goes in well. But I can't tell all my secret! :wav: LOL

Been looking at a DB Killer available for the Viper Can. I just decided to order it and see the difference.

It's on its way from the UK. Might takes few days to get here. Hope it fits... instruction were not 100% clear. From the look of it it's just an insert that reduce the outlet to about 1 1/4" or so. I'll let everyone knows how it goes.

The noise don't really bother me though. I wear hear plug on the RH side on long ride... it gets old after 3-4 hrs at constant throttle.

If it work... I call that reverse engineering... :wav:

***VIPER EXHAUST UPDATE***

After about 12K - 15K miles with the Viper I notice that the can is cracked. So I will strongly suggest adding a support bracket in the can area to eliminate some of the vibration. Doesn't mean your can will crack... but mine did. I was planning to change the can for a new one at my next tune up anyway.
