Pretty nice find, seems straight forward, remove and replace with new tail piece.

No more info? I think the R6 tail is one of the best looking out there. Looks like frame is intact, only issue would be how to attach it and the seats. I did a CBR 600rr tail swap on an EX 250 but that was actually pretty easy. Thankfully we didn't need to cut and weld frame, cause I can't weld

I talk with someone who had made this change, easy to do, is just a little worm fiber to do. the seat was very well without modification is perfect fit. just need r6 rear tail .

I couldn't find anything locally or on ebay for less than about $200... and I'm not ready to take a chance on $200. However, PLEASE keep us informed of how your swap goes, take LOTS of pictures. If yours goes even relatively well I'll jump on the band wagon!

Looks like R6 fairings to in the second pic.
Without a doubt the second picture is a couple of R6. I think they might be newer R6 tails on older R6 bikes, but definitely not FZ6R
I question the first pics with the exhaust all the way up like that...

I know this thread is a bit old, but it's got me curious. The bikes in the seconds pick are definitely FZ6R's, the swingarm, frame and tank are the same as our bikes. But I can't for the life of me figure out where those fairings are from, they don't seem to match any R6 year model.
If it's a relatively straight forward bolt on process I'd be very interested in this to create enough clearance for true clip-ons. Does anybody know where the original pics came from or what fairings they are using?

It's very possible those are race fairings from airtech or something. I agree that all the bikes are the FZ6R due to the swingarm, frame tubing, front forks, and handlebars instead of clipons. That's a sweet looking mod, would love more info on it if anyone has done it.

I'm hoping to revive this, can anyone advise what parts are needed exactly and if any frame work/modifications are necessary? The stock fz6r tail looks bulky to me from some angles.

I'll bump this too. I'm needing to redo the rear of the bike (taillight, signals, etc...). If this is a straight forward swap, I'm interested in doing it. More info anyone?

That's sick. Is it as easy as just buying an r6 tail and swapping or do you have to do any customer mods?

I took the first step in the process today and bought a 2008 r6 upper tail piece for $15. I've got the bike torn apart now for an initial test fit to see what all this might entail and as expected, nowhere close to direct swap lol. Money is tight, r6 fairings are expensive on ebay, so this will probably be slow. I'm not promising anything, but if I can figure it out, I'll definitely make a detailed thread about everything I did.
