WooHooo! My wife finally gave up her fight and said she's OK with me doing some track days. For some reason she felt it would be more dangerous. I think knowing that I've been a racer my whole life, she was worried I was going to go out and actually race the bike. I think she finally heard enough from friends and family that it's the exact opposite. So now I'm searching around for track days late this spring after I recover from surgery I'm having in April. You can bet the GoPro will be running for this. I'll keep the thread updated when I can get out there and get some good footage. Probably going to be either Chuckwalla or Auto Club Speedway.

hey jonker i have a question sense i know u ride aggressive and have some pretty good experience.
do u scrape your pegs at all cuz Ive done that a few times and now have chicken strips about the 3/16ths of an inch and i just wanna see what you think if im leaning to far cuz my tires look a little pinched and Ive read on another thread about how the Dunlap tires that came with your bike were pinched and i have those same tire or is it normal for us to scrape out pegs at full lean

The simple answer is yes, I scrape often enough and will lean far enough that I removed the peg feelers and still scrape. (My toe slider on the boots tend to get to the ground first now) Many of my friends have told me that my knee is usually about to touch when my toe touches and by instinct I tend to tuck my knee in when that happens.

Now, do I think leaning so far you're scraping is too far? Again, simple answer is yes. You don't ever want to drag hard parts on the bike. I actually get pissed if I scrape. If I had the offset pegs that some of the guys on here have which I'm planning on getting, the bike will go farther without scraping, and it's capable of doing it. That plus refining my form, and I'll be able to get a knee on the ground when I hit the track. (Honestly I don't really want to go any faster than I am on the street, so better form will allow me to lean less.) HOWEVER, if you're leaning that far and not using proper body positioning and riding techniques, you're putting yourself very close to the edge of control. Proper technique is everything. There's a thread on here where I posted up a sequence of shots of a guy riding with some really poor technique and a lot of lean angle on a bike that can handle a lot more than ours can. Also here's a clip I put together last night. I was bored so I threw together some laps I did Saturday. This is the "Playground" A stretch of road we like to use as a kind of practice ground up and down. I wasn't really riding hard at all. I was still getting over being sick. Not my favorite but not bad to putting it together in 10 minutes.

Nice road for riding. I like Florida but I wish we have twisties here too. Were you riding the world famous 6R Viper map? (LOL) Good job on the video. I might need one of those...

That's the one I've got. I think that one comes with more stuff you could use on cars/motorcycles, but you can buy all the parts seperatly if you want to mix and match if you know what you want from GoPro

That is the one I've used in the last few videos. It's actually a friend of mines. The one I have is the Hero standard def camera. The Video quality is quite a bit lower in the standard def, but by the time you compress everything for online hosting, there's not much of a difference. I will admit I was a little bummed when I realized Kristen got me the standard def cam, but it's still really cool to use.

Been a little while since I did a video. Been a while since i've really been on the bike too. I got out a couple of weeks ago and rode but realized I wasn't ready to get back on it after surgery. Gave it a couple more weeks and hit the twisties today. Felt GREAT. Beautiful weather, clean roads, a little more traffic than I would have liked, but I managed to get some pretty good footage. This is a long video, but I really think it came out nice for the standard def cam. Guns N' Roses fans should like the music choices.

Didn't get to Banner this weekend but I did get some footage in. Here's the first of two I'm putting together. I'm following a couple of friends, one on an 2010 R1 and the other on a Triumph 675. We were getting on it pretty good for a little while. I was pissed, the best footage of the day heading up Sunrise Highway was spoiled by a bug on the lens. Oh well this one came out well and I'll get the second up later.

BTW- Let me know what you think of the mounting position. It's mounted to the mirror stem using the handlebar mount. I like how easy it is, but I think the footage looks like it slows everything down a little being that high up compared to the fairing cam. You can see how it's mounted in the pic at the end of the video.

This is the rest of the video from yesterday. I'm waiting for my friend on the R1 (who I passed part way through this video) to post his video. He was acting as a camera bike for us. He was riding pretty close behind me once I passed him to get footage of my form. We'll see how much work I have to do once I get a hold of that.
