FZ6R REAR SETS

FINALLY got my rear sets after a couple months. It wasnt the eBay sellers fault as they shipped to me straight from Valtermoto. I am missing the brake side heel guard which they promised to ship to me asap so no big deal.

I see what you mean about the plastic ball joint! Why!?! I took your advice and got the same ball joint and bushing you suggest. I also had to order some clamps from Bel-Metric to replace the radiator hoses on my truck so for $.80 a piece I got the bolts you suggested as well.

These rearsets complete with all of the hardware weight 2.8lbs so that's more than a 5lb weight savings! I'll take it!

Right? I have no idea what the thought process is on the plastic/nylon/polymer rod end, but it's at least an easy and cheap swap. Everything else is a really nice piece of kit though!

Hey Audace, after getting my rear sets and seeing the spacers, I noticed on your left side rearsets, the bottom spacer slipped down. Not sure if you already noticed that and fixed but just wanted to let you know

What do you mean?

Look at the picture you posted here of your shifter side rearsets. The lower left mounting bolt, it looks like that black spacer fell down and you tightened the bolt so it's just clamped there. I was wondering what it was until I got mine and noticed they sent spacers to install

Ohhhhhh, I see what you mean now. I've never actually noticed that! I'm amazed it managed to stay put through an entire season of 2 hour round-trip commuting and trying to start practicing wheelies lol.

Holy Hannah! How tall are you Audace? I was expecting like most rearsets, that these would start about 1" up and 1" back but these rearsets at the closest position to stock are 3" up and 2" back. These will take some getting used to!

I only wanted a small change from stock to keep from scraping the pegs and was also tired of the clumsy, sloppy shifter action on the stock shifter. I'll see how the go but I can always have new mounting plates made to move the pegs down some.

lmao yeah, these really get you up there! I'm 6ft with really lanky limbs. I got my rearsets on the top row and and the middle column. They made the bike infinitely more comfortable to ride for me personally, especially with my super low clip-ons. I ended up choosing the FZ6R because it was supposed to be a more comfortable riding position, but weirdly enough a way more tucked up, supersport-style position has somehow ended up being what my body seems to like.

There was another thing I was going to mention when I was looking at your rearsets. They look slightly different than the ones that I have. Yours have different foot pegs and your whole shift lever is different than mine and ValterMoto does have V1.5, V2.5, and V3.5 versions for each bike. Now that you mention them being super high even at the lowest setting I'm wondering if you might have been sent a V2.5 or V3.5 set that's meant to be extra aggressive.

I haven't had a chance to ride with them yet because of winter but I think it may be too much for me the way they are. Especially with the stock handlebars. I only wanted maybe an inch up and an inch back just a tad more than stock to keep the pegs from dragging.

I may try to find a place that can fab me up some new mounting plates that will allow me to bolt the rearsets lower and more forward. Now that I have them, I don't want to go back to the crappy stock rearsets lol

Do you have any idea on how to use "send cut send"? It's that online place that will cnc custom parts? I wish I knew how to make a CAD file to make new mounting plates because I could just send any number of companies the files and just have them cnc me new ones... Hmmm, I need somebody smarter me lol

I'm drawing up some new mounting plates that will put the pegs 1 1/8" up and 1 1/4" back from stock. Send Cut Send has graph paper you can print out, draw your part with a description, upload pictures of the graph paper and they'll make it for you. Let's see how this debacle goes lol!

Got my prototype lol. Think this may work as long as my shift lever fits past the kickstand. I had the same problem with the OEM shift lever, I couldn't lower it as much as I wanted to. The good thing is, send cut send will change my design for free if I need them to and when I know I have them right, I'll have them deburr these and anodize them

What do you guys think, black anodizing or clear? I'm thinking black would look best...IMG20250305144551.webp

Could you just run an extended shift rod to push the lever lower or are you still trying to keep it at the same angle with the peg? That service is really nice though, damn. I'm gonna keep that in mind 'cause there's a few projects I've had in mind where I'd need something cut or machined out of a thicker material, but I just haven't been sure about where to source it. How much did the plates end up costing?

Black to match the rearsets would definitely look the best imo. Also, I can already see the ValterMoto hex socket cap bolts starting to round off inside lol. I really don't know why the bolts they send are so crappy.

I can make it as low as I want, my issue is when downshifting the shift lever contacts the kickstand because I have the rearsets obviously lower than intended.

Yeah I've got all new stainless hardware for every bolt when I'm done. The lower mounting bolt on the brake side will be countersunk flush so it fits under the rearsets.

I'm liking Send cut send too. The only downside is that they only do laser cutting so they can't do any decorative chamfering or partial depth cuts or I would have gotten more fancy lol. I could fancy them up myself at home but then I'd have to send them back out for anodizing and nobody is going to anodize them for less than what send cut send charges ($5 each) Still, for $49 they turned my cardboard templates into a working CAD design. Something I could never do!

i just saw where you asked how much they cost. it was $49 for the designs (I expected to have to pay $49 for each template since that is their lowest design fee but they did both for $49) and the plates ended up costing $34 each (having the two holes tapped to M8x1.25 was about 5 bucks). So they were $70 with free shipping for both but the more you buy the cheaper they are so I bought two of each and it cost me around $95 free shipping.

In hindsight, knowing damn well that Id have to tweak them somewhat I should have just bought the pair since having extras of something you arent going to use makes no sense lol. Even if they were perfect from the get go, Id want to order two more so I could have them anodized.

Changing them was easy, I did that this morning. I just wrote the new dimensions right on the parts to tweak a couple bolt holes a couple mm (so my footpegs were the same height and in the same spot front to back), took pictures and emailed them to the guy that did my design, he changed them in minutes and now I can order some version 2.0's anodized black lol.
