Anthony's Two Bros & PCV Official Installation questions thread.

OK, So I'm going to get my Two Brothers Exhaust & Power Commander V in the mail any day now. Let's face it, as soon as I get it i'm going to rip the boxes open and start installation so I thought I would ask questions that came to mind before and during. Any answers would be helpful. My bike is an 09.

In return, I plan to video the entire installation of both components and post it on the forum and plan to keep it unlisted for a while. FZ6r owners doing a google search will find it here but have to join to view the install link.


#1 When I get the PCV in the mail, I want to hook it to my pc and DL the two bros map correct?

#2 I see "ports" on the pictures for speed, ect. Other than the supplied hookups is there anything else I need to do?

#3 Is it just the two plugs, and battery hookups?

#4 I saw several threads talking about an O2 sensor. Is there one? Some threads said yes and some said no.

#5 Whats best to prop up the tank?(never done it before)

#7 Do I really need a new air filter and is this the time to install it? Which one should I get?

#8 Should I install the PCV before or after the exhaust?

#9 Test ride: Should I leave the fairings off while I give it a test ride or do I need to put them back on.

#10 What, if any parts of the exhuast or PCV did you have difficulty with?

#11 All I have is my kickstand and maybe a father-in-law to help. Will that be ok or do I HAVE to get a center stand or somthing.

#12 Best place to put PCV is under rear seat?

#13 Once all installed is there an exhaust/pcv break in period or can I ride it like normal ie: BALLS OUT

#14 Will my normal torque set and average tool box be sufficient tools or do I need to go buy something special?

#15 How far up do I want to push the new headers in?

That's a lot of questions. You're over thinking this, but I'll put my $.02 in below.

#5 Whats best to prop up the tank?(never done it before) I used a cardboard box. Some people use a 2X4 about 12" to 16".

#7 Do I really need a new air filter and is this the time to install it? Which one should I get? No. If you want to you can, but it's pretty much a waste of money, IMO.

#8 Should I install the PCV before or after the exhaust? Same time.

#9 Test ride: Should I leave the fairings off while I give it a test ride or do I need to put them back on. Whatever floats your boat.

#10 What, if any parts of the exhuast or PCV did you have difficulty with? The rear bracket for the exhaust was a little tricky to get lined up. Kevin's "How-To" thread holds the key if you get stuck like I did. :tard:

#12 Best place to put PCV is under rear seat? I used the included velcro and put it where Dynojet recommended which is on the flat spot of the frame just behind the head stock. This also makes it easy to connect the map switch if you decide to hook that up.

#13 Once all installed is there an exhaust/pcv break in period or can I ride it like normal ie: BALLS OUT Let 'er rip.

#14 Will my normal torque set and average tool box be sufficient tools or do I need to go buy something special? The only somewhat special tool you'll need is a 8" or 10" 3/8" ratchet extension to reach the header bolts.

#15 How far up do I want to push the new headers in? As far as they'll go.

#10 lining up the header to the engine is another hard part, better using a helper, make sure the oem gaskets do not fall out when removing the stock exhaust. The tbr should be shipped with a rubber band to hold up the whatchamacallits (connectors or flanges). Do not remove the rubber band when you first unpack, if you do the connectors will slide all the way down the headers.

Everything else is well covered by nasty and pd, if you haven't seen this, it's a good how to guide.

Yeah, there is a little oil, that burns off, which is also why you may see some white smoke for a little bit.

Too many questions... Just bolt it on and plug it in. If you want to use mt Advgear maps plug in the speed sensor from the speed sensor to PCV box. (look instruction manual)

I suggest you Advgear RevB. Got some good power and very decent fuel economy on top gears. (4-6th)

Thats it! The whole thing should take you about 2 hrs taking your time. 3 hrs if you never did anything like this before...

do this for sure when you put the pipe on those damn copper gaskets kept falling out on me!!
