Adjusting Fuel using the CO adjustment?

Service manual

Hey all,

I'm curious as to what these settings actually change but i looked through this and cant really find it.

Maybe someone with a more mechanical mind could try?

Im from Australia and can get into the 'CO' settings. I did notice it the throttle response picked up quite a bit when i put the settings up to CO 1 - 15 CO 2 - 17
but really have no idea why.

I dont think anyone in here really knew what it was changing, it all seemed to be a bit of guesswork going from all the posts.

It would be either adding/removing fuel or air (or both?)

I would only be making minimal changes at a time, run for a few weeks then check your plugs to see if they are fouled more than usual. fuel economy, etc.

Strange that no one got behind this in Aus to determine what was actually going on. Maybe Bert wioll pop in and share his knowledge as he has an XJ6.

Sorry boys, I cant add anything to this one
I researched down this line and still felt wary to mess with it too much.
I ended up ordering the PCV setup from Marthy and am thankful for doing so -works sweet and is very easy to play with if/ when needed (but once it is set-up there are no ongoing issues)

BTW FYI: XJ6 & FZ6R have same running parts it is only cosmetic differences

naked was only for the ugly blokes right? :zombie:

"What does it mean!" From what i read, C0 adjustments control air/fuel mixture C1 controls cylinders 1 and 3 C2 controls cylinders 2 and 4.

If it is a/f how is it even measured?
My bike feels like it is running less lean.. (I got bored and drilled holes in the airbox) so it must have some impact on that...
But it could have something to do with emissions.. In the service manual it says CO: 4.5-5.5%
I can't believe there is nothing on the net about it..

The diagnostic codes are very similar to what is in most cars. I have a Holden SS Ute (Aussie) and it will do a similar function.

I could not start the bike while in D mode which I thought was strange as some of the readings I thought would change eg oil pressure, air and coolant temps, hot / cold settings etc

As for C setting, A good AFR gauge will give an accurate display of what is going on when values are changed. I am going to look at getting a plug welded in near the O2 sensor so I can plug a logger in. I just have to remove my AFR gauge from my car and try to rig it up somehow.

This was talked about on the hyosung forum and not many people were sure about what they were playing with

Sorry for reviving an old thread

I tried this on my XJ6 Diversion. I do notice a difference although not a lot.

My stock settings Co1 +6 and Co2 +5

Now Co1 +27 and Co2 +26

I think that the engine ran smoother. But after researching around the FZ6 and R6 forums I still don't know what exactly it changes. Some threads have other opinions. Some say fuel mix, some air mix and some say it controls the AIS..

Bike running lean + Co2 adjustment = smoother ---> increased fuel mix???

Btw, I'm using a modded exhaust, and stock airfilter/box.

Anybody else tried this adjustment?
Did you find out the best co settings ?
