Spent this past weekend up in Stecoah, NC, at the Iron Horse, with ~100 more VStrom owners, running routes like Tail of the Dragon, the Cherohala Skyway, Moonshiner 28, etc...
This is the video from the Dragon... Best watched at 720pHD...
Sadly, the Dragon claimed it's 1st rider fatality...
Well... tying the two subjects of this thread together (and re-vitalizing it), I keep getting notices for a group thing from Liberty, for insurance, sponsored by AARP. Up til now, I've refused to even look at it, because AARP helped sponsor the non-Affordable Healthcare Act... (otherwise known...
For a big bike, the V-Strom 650 can deal with the twisties!
Great ride up and down Blood Mountain, in Suches, and through Unicoli... amazing roads --

Had mine 2 years, before moving laterally... Going to watch the line over the next couple of years... I'd buy one again (with a few tweaks that I think Yamaha will incorporate). Just a great bike...
T-Rex has provided excellent service (and excellent product) from their beginnings.
I had their original frame sliders (their 1st models, when they were sorting out bolt lengths), and they were fantastic to work with (I worked with Oscar, in particular, and he was great).
I had their...
Boring subject, until it becomes relevant...
Thought y'all might find this enlightening... I know *I* did... (from another forum):
From February Motorcycle Consumer News, Motorcycle Justice Column in quotes.

Good luck with the surgery, Scott...
Fortunately, that surgery is refined now (different story 10 years ago), and it's got very positive outcomes...
And, if you have to do it, now is definitely the time...
Best of luck, and quick recovery...
Ohhhh... I dunno... that doesn't seem to be happening with the illegals... Depends on who you have the propensity to vote for, or solicit votes for, these days...
The kid violated his visa... Big time...
At any other point in history, when the rule of law mattered, and the Constitution was the administration's blueprint, as opposed to its inconvenience, Bieber would be on his way...
Unfortunately, as role models go today, fame trumps integrity...
If anyone is looking for a new lid, this is a *great* deal.
I have four helmets: Arai Signet Q; Shoei Neotec; Scorpion exo1100; Bell RS-1. My favorite for comfort, features, and overall appeal is the Bell.
Rider's Discount is having a sale on NEW Bell RS-1 Emblem Yellow Hi-Viz...
Well... as for comfy, just swapped out the standard seat for a Sargent (much comfier now); and lowered the bike today, 3/4" with Kouba links ('cause I'm not one of those tall people!).
*Now* it's "almost" where I want it... (Which I think is a perpetual state for our bikes)...
I've been using a tank lock bag, like Marty shows above, for a *long* time... I also used a tail bag, until I attached a top-case, which gives me more room, locks, and doesn't cover the pillion seat...
I'm heading to a rally in a couple months in N.C. I'll either add saddlebags, or a large...
Well... regretfully traded in the FZ6R, however, I have a number of aftermarket bits for sale
PM me, if you have any interest:
1- Corbin Seat. All leather with vinyl side panels (for grip): SOLD
Excellent condition (as you can see). The Corbin is not for everyone, however, if it's good for...
The seat *is* more comfortable than the stock on the FZ6R. That's why I put a Corbin on my 6R. And, it *is* bigger, and wider (as well for the pillion). However, it's still an OEM seat, which means sub-standard foam, and not the most ergonomic sculpting, so after a couple of hours today, I...
Well, I've had a pretty good chance to wring out the Strom (at least as much as you can do in a couple hundred miles). Did the Motoman thing for break-in, so didn't really have to worry about keeping the leash on after the 1st 40 miles. These are my 1st impressions of the 2013 V-Strom 650...
Thanks...
A friend of mine, as well, went from a Ninja to a BMW F800GS... He's always in the north Ga mountains, up into NC, and across into TN... When I ask him the routes he took, he says he can't recall them all because many of the "roads" didn't have names... This from a twisty bum...
Thanks, Marthy... The FZ09 was sooo on the short list... However, I suffer from over-practicality, and as *very* awesome as that killer triple is, a couple of my requisites had me go another way...
If you get a chance to demo the 2014 Vee2, do it. I'll take action you put a deposit down right...
Well... fact is, I *really* hate to do this -- I love the 6R. However, been looking for just a *bit* more versatility, and something that doesn't have my hips and knees aching (after I finally got my butt straightened out, with the Corbin).
I wanted something that would be a little more fire...
