did my own ram air for under 10 dollars. It had a deeper sound to the engine. Did feel a little faster. what you guys think about it?

Would suck in a lot of crap, but looks like it'll work. Personally, I would have gone with one on each side and have a rounded inlet instead of a sharp one.

Leaving it like that :facepalm: However, if you were to duct it into one of the fake intakes around the headlight, that's some serious win.

Me too! This could end up being one of those "go to" mods. If I dip my bike again this summer, I'll have about 2 weeks painting/drying time where I'll be riding the wife's Ninja 250... I could hack up an airbox and try this out.

you could take his start and connect yours to the fake air scoops

technically it isn't a RAM air intake because is not pressurized (The airbox it's open in the bottom), but I see it very interesting, like some kind of fresh air intake, because the OEM air inlet sucks hot air from the engine area.
PS: I remember seeing a sticker on the 90's Yamaha FZR600 that read "F.A.I. Fresh Air Intake) besides a ducts running from the front fairing to the gas tank.

i am actually going to try to make a ram air from the Fake scoops, since its got clearance to have something in there.
maybe like a flexible tubing material
or something.
seems pretty inexpensive to do

I think that's what he meant. No pressure needed, just need to introduce cooler air. I installed a cold air intake on my Z28. Pulled air from in front of radiator.

Yep, that's what I'm talking about. A cold air intake would be very interesting to our bikes, not necessarily oriented into the air stream because the FZ6R carburetion system is not designed to work under presurization, but the cold air (more dense) is better for the engine performance.

Using the intake ducts would be ideal. I think it would be interesting to mock something up. Maybe a future mod. Can never have too many.

Yeah, I'm thinking of grabbing an airbox from a wrecker and trying this along with sealing the bottom. More direct and cooler air
Shouldn't be too difficult, just not sure what to use to direct into the box. I'm thinking tubing may be too small. Some sort of plastic ducting for better air velocity and reduced drag. It's the reason I changed the air bellow coming off my MAF sensor in my Z28. The original is crinkled flexible plastic which is turbulent. I got a smooth bellow which was actually a nice HP boost. I think the same can be said of the CAI. You'll want to use something smooth and not too small to reduce airflow. You could always enlarge the opening at the back of the intakes. I'd put some sort of screening though to keep crap from getting sucked into the intake.
I was wanting to mess around with this last year, my problem was figuring out how to connect to the actual scoops.They have kind of a diamond shape going on.But if someone figures out a clean way to connect to the scoops I was planning to use a PVC terminal adapter to connect to the airbox.After drilling a hole in the airbox you spin a lockring on the threaded end to hold it in place, then you can have a clean way to connect to the airbox.

Awesome idea! I think you could do some sort of PVC for the ducts and just use some sort of rubber to couple it to the intake. I think I'd open the back of the intake a little bit. The opening isn't all that big.

You get your pegs installed yet? I got some red spikes for my wind screen today. I threw them on, but didn't take a pic. Hoping to get some other stuff done for the bike tomorrow. Rim stripes, tank grips, etc.....
Yea the size of the opening was my biggest problem, I thought about enclosing the back of the scoop so I could drill into it but I could barely fit a 1/2" pipe fitting inside the scoops and the fit was so tight I wouldn't of been able to fit a lockring inside anyway.Since then I've been thinking about trying to heat up the back of the scoops then forcing pipe through it to mold a round opening on the back.Maybe submerging the scoops face in a bowl of ice water so it can't warp, then sitting it in the oven for slightly longer periods of time until you can start bending the back.
No I still haven't messed with my pegs, I wear size 14's and they barely even reach the center of my boots sole.I'm going to wait until its hot enough that I'm not joy riding much to throw them on, that way if I don't like them they will still be on and looking pretty during Motogp season.
