I have the Icon Field Armor Boots, and they are very protective. Not too bad as far as comfort is concerned, but take some getting used to walking and shifting.
Do you have the field armor Chukka boots or just the field armor boots?

If you're looking for a pretty good pair of boots for a good price, I'm liking the Vega Boots I've been using. $110 from Motorcycle Superstore. I really want to upgrade to the Sidi's when I can get a spare $500+ for them. But until then these protect better than most boots out there.

Those look nice, i'll definitely look into it man, for that price I doubt i'll pass it up, thanks for the info!

What do you all think of those as far as reviews have you all heard anything? Only thing bad in reviews from MSS is that the toe sliders don't last long, but honestly I don't need to worry about that for a while, I just want protection incase of a crash.

Those do look pretty good for the price. They actually look like they're made just like the Vega ones and are a bit better looking.

These are the boots I REALLY want to get. Sidi Vortice but at $475 for them, it's going to be a while.

Very nice, I looked at those, I could afford them, but I think Im gonna go with these Sidi Cobra Boots - Street Bike - Motorcycle Superstore

They seem pretty nice and with the money I save I can get a nice pair of leather overpants :)

im thinking ill practice my form before trying to go so fast in the corners.... ive always had the idea of it down... and what not.... i dont wanna end up like that dude.... he sure did look stupid coming into that corner on the first page....
I highly recommed reading "Total Control" I havent read much of it, but so far there's good info on how to ride and its not a boring read and many on this forum recommend it. Also look at youtube videos, ie twist of the wrist vid.

I want these boots!:

Alpinestars S-MX 5 Vented Boots - Street Bike - Motorcycle Superstore

These babies always sell out by the summertime :(

these kind of shots always drive home how easy it can be to really mess up yourself and your bike. my rule of thumb? i ride what im comfortable with, and dont go beyond my limits. im nowhere near as good as some of the others on here (jonkerr, looking at your sig pic) but ill get their at my own pace.

2 major things I've learned by instruction that help me a ton are as follows:

My martial arts teacher taught me "Where the head goes, the body follows."

My MSF instructor taught me "Look exactly at where you want to go, and the bike will get you there."

I've probably got 9k or so miles under my belt total, and I've found that these really make riding easier. Focusing on the exact point you want to end up while making a turn naturally orients your body to make it properly. Leaning that hard's a wee bit different obviously as there's more involved. I've scraped the pegs a few times, but haven't had a chance to really drag them knees as I work 60+ hours a week, and I'm mostly just commuting on highways :(

Most fun I had was coming down the mountains around the Hoover Dam from Vegas going about 105 and just flowing through the turns. Now *that* was good times. :D I was just laying on the tank, looking through the turns, and had zero problems.

Grrrrr I'm stuck at work right now. I just wanna go home, take a nap, then fly up to Jerome through some crazy twisties. Another day, perhaps... :(

That just popped on my feed also, took me a minute to figure how he lowsided. This is making me order some knee protection in the form of armor or pants before spring..
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like he grabbed the front brake in the turn?

Here's a sequence of shots from last weekend on Highway 94 of a rider "Trying" too hard and getting too much lean angle without using proper body positioning. Probably showing off for the photographer as well which is the bad part of having photographers on these roads. Some of us use it to improve. Others tend to show off. You can see how crossed up he is from the start and he's going way too fast with way too much lean angle using horrible body positioning. Please keep this in mind when you're looking at those chicken strips and you want to "try" and get rid of them. Please educate yourself in proper riding skills and techniques before you try and push yourself to these limits.
If your gonna go ride highway 94 let me know i would tag along def would like some experienced information and get out with someone that knows more of what they are doing then myself. My uncle has been riding for many years and was gonna be a coach to me but he has injured his back and is unable to ride !
