Ya a lot of the cost is us paying for the mold and they have to make rubber grommets to fit them in

ill look into it im sure I can have cheap prototype one made and considering they are only used as air inlet nozzles that prototype plaastic should do.... anyhow ill look into it the only thing I can do is test and give a HP gain... I dont have that capability... either way lets see where this takes me. anybody have anytype of dims on stock stacks??? or will i have to open it up again????

I think I’m going to have way to much fun with this project....
I will use my flow simulation to verify my design is an improvement over stock but I will also add a twist in my design. I will see if creating a vortex helps in this situation. i know that a vortex helps velocity in certain situation I just do know if this will be too much more of a restriction.

one company gave me a reasonable quote at $210 for the set of 4
another gave me $210 each (f-that)
but I contacted my professor I had in college (where I used a 3D rapid prototype printer) and he is going to hook me up for free! (fucking sweet!) as long as I summarize and demo my little project for his current class.
So I should be able to test out my design relatively cheap but I’m sure the college will not be okay with mass production for all of you...
So as of now $210 for a set, unless I can find someone to beat that quote.... but let’s not get ahead of ourselves let me make and test the prototype and well go from there... i just need to come up with a wat to show / prove / test that it does help.... thats where I need help guys... any ideas
Does the bore is straight or tapper? 11 deg taper is the best I found back in the days (total angle... 5.5 each side) The initial radius at the edge of the trumpet should be the same as the bore (32mm) length wise is the big change. Do you have the distance between the edge of the trumpet to the valve opening stock?

my current concept is striaght inside taperd outside but I will revise with your 11 Deg. suggestion... good to know about matching radious to bore... I will revise that as well... if I can ask where did you get all this great info?? what do you think about adding fins to creat a vortex? vortex wil increase speed thus more volume...

-two long - 95mm +/-
-two short - 65mm +/-

As for the dyno tune go talk to an after market shop and tell them what you are doing. They might give 300 for a full custom tune. However you don't need a tune you just need a dyno to comapre before and after.
I think maybe possibly using a flow bench as well? Its used to port and polish heads by letting you know where you can inprove flow of the head. Don't see why you could flow a velocity stack?

so 95mm and 65mm is the distance from the valve to the edge of the trumpet. I did the FSAE when I tryed to get my mech bach. degree. I was in charge of the engine dept. on my second year. We were working on a CBRF3 engine back then. The rule were 1 throttle body no larger than 20mm. The throttle had to be before the 20mm restriction. So everyone had the throttle, 20mm ventury then plenum. I by-pass the system. I machine my own throttle body "ball valve type" with the 20mm about 1/16" pass the center line of the ball valve. Few fluid hydrolique teacher give us some tips on the perfect shape. This is where we came up with those numbers. 11 degree in, 7 degree out with inlet radius = bore dia.
Result 150% efficiency over the previous throttle body/choke set up
I do remember the magic number... 241 CFM in a 20mm hole!!! I did get 138 HP on the dyno but once but never had time to fine tune it properly. I think that the injector were way too small and running way over rich on the bottom was why I got so much hp. by the time the engine "clean up" I had enough fuel on top. On testing the engine wasn't very responsive, so I had to tune it old school (plug reading) driving around in a parking lot (low budget testing)
It turn out very decent. Even some guys in Detroit came and look at our design and were telling other student " That how you need to do it" That made my day! LOL

Here's a little tool that seams to work. But i think you gave me the stack length, not the total length. 238mm total is the sweet spot with the 3rd wave calibrated at 10200 RPM Peak.
