Sorry. Not really going to incriminate myself. It's faster than it looks in the video. We're not really all about top speed in the straight line. It's more about carrying corner speed and being smooth.

Took a long ride yesterday. About 230 miles, mostly twisties, in about 4 half hours. Got a lot of footage with a slightly different camera location further back and lower on the fairing. I think I like it the best so far. Here's the first two videos. Once from Old Julian Highway and one from Sunrise Highway. I've got a lot of video from Palomar so I'll edit some of that together and post that up later.

Here's the rest of the footage from this last weekend. It's a long one. It's a few laps up and down Palomar. I really like the lower camera angle. Some of the really tight full lean angle turns you can see just how close to the ground the camera gets.

Finally got out onto Banner yesterday with the camera. Roads were just a bit on the dirty side so I wasn't really pushing much at all. But it'll give you a good idea of just how much fun and twisty this road is.

Tried a new mounting location on Sunday. I used the handle bar mount and put it on the mirror stem and turned it around to face me. I really like what I got from it. Was able to really see some things I'm not doing right, things I need to stop doing, and other things I need to do more.

One of the things I need to stop doing is tapping the brake lever before I pull it. It's a bad habit I got in when I first started riding. I would tap the lever to flash the brake light at cars without actually applying the brakes, just to kind of get their attention. Problem is when I'm riding a bit more spirited, I feel the slight drag from the first tap and I think it's making me a little unstable. I didn't realize I was doing it as often as I am until I watched the raw footage.

Thanks. Yeah stock sizes, aftermarket Driven lightened sprockets. Most of that footage is in 3rd gear. The last part on Sunrise highway is pretty much screaming in 3rd. That road is tough with stock gearing. It's relatively open bends rather than really tight corners. In third I'm doing about 60-65 or so through most of the corners, around 50 in the slower ones, and up to about 75 in the straights and the engine is screaming by the time I'm at the end of the straight, but right in the sweet spot for corner exit. I could run in 4th but to keep it in the power band, I'd be running about 10mph faster. Just too fast for street riding. And I really don't want to up shift into 4th just to down shift a second later and have to brake harder. I'm not on the track.
went out with a buddy yesterday on his supermoto. This is a perfect example of how much quicker a good rider is on a supermoto on super tight twisties than a good rider on a sport bike. (See the second half of this video.) But put those two on a higher speed twisty road that's more sweepers, (See the first part of the clip) that dirtbike had no chance of keeping up.

Here's a couple more videos from yesterday. Worked on a few things from the last one with my form. They're subtle. But noticeable to me and really noticeable when I'm riding. Also been really working on aggressive braking and rev matching properly and was able to see how I'm doing. There were a few in the raw footage that I could see I'm not doing things just right. Practice and footage of yourself helps a lot.

Thanks bud. It's something fun to play with. I'd really like to get an HD cam before I hit the track in about 6 weeks. May be able to borrow one.
As for speed, I'm not going to incriminate myself, but lets just say I'm in 3rd gear through most of the corners very high in the RPM range and in 4th around 9000 RPM when I'm slowing down and then down shifting heading into some of the turns. Probably faster then I should be going at times, but it's just too damn much fun. :innocent:

Finally got some time to put this clip together from last Saturday while I sat in the back seat on the ride home from Vegas today. Saturday was my birthday and a couple of friends wanted to take me out for a ride before I went out of town. About half way though is a clip from my bike with my buddy riding (he couldn't say enough good things about the bike BTW) following me on his KTM990 Supermoto. Lets just say I like my inline four sportbike much more. 
I was so unsteady with the MASSIVE torque, short gearing, and light weight of this wheelie monster, it's embarrassing.

Been a little while since I posted on here. Last week I picked up the new GoPro Hero 2. Cycle gear had the older Hero for $260 and the new one for $290 so I decided to just get the new one. This morning I went out with a group of friends and got some footage. I love this camera. Incredible picture and the adjustable features are great. This is a little bit of a longer video. Might still be converting if you click right now.

OK so I'm extremely impressed with the new camera. BUT I'm so annoyed at the video hosting sites. How the hell do I get videos uploaded in HD to either Vimeo or YouTube? Here's one I just put together and it looks incredible on my laptop. But upload it and it looks like shit.
Anyways I've been able to get out for a couple of cold weather morning rides the last couple of weekends. This footage it wasn't too cold, in the 50's. Later in the morning when I headed up the hill to Laguna it was 27ºF. I'll put some of that footage together later from last week so you guys can see the nice scenery. But this is just some of the clips put together, no music so I don't have any issues with youtube since I was trying to get it in HD with them.
If anyone had some better info for me about getting HD footage up I'd appreciate it. I'm using an older version of iMovie to edit the video and exporting it to the largest format I can.
