It's not a thread about all the gear you own. It's a thread about what your wearing when you ride, why you like it, and what you want to get and why.
When I was a kid on the the back of my mother's bike, she had a 3/4 helmet with a bubble shield. That was it. I had what I was wearing.
When I started riding on my own, helmets had come a long way. The only people who had real gear though, were racers. Even their gear was crappy, and horribly expensive.
When I became ATGATT, the gear was available to the rest of us, but still horribly expensive. Helmets had come a long way, but are nothing like today. It's taken me years and years to be able to the gear that I've got now. Mostly because prices have dropped so much in recent years.
Back when I became ATGATT, a basic full face helmet cost hundreds of bucks and it sucked. Jackets, pants and boots were all leather, hot as hell, and either Harley style, or clunky-racer type gear no one wanted or could afford.
Today, you can buy a decent helmet for a buck-fifty, boots cost half that, a decent jacket will set you back a couple hundred, etc.
So, what are you riding in? It's not about what you've got. It's about what you're riding in and why. Why do you like what you've got? What do you want in the future, and why?
It's just a thread to post up a pic of yourself, in the gear you've got (or lack of) and say what you like, don't like, or what you want.
I started the thread, so I'll kick it off: Ignore the date-time stamp. The pic was taken last week, by my 11-year old son, after I returned from a run on the twisties above Rockingham, NC.
Shoei RF1100 - lots of years to build up to that helmet. I love it.
PowerTrip U.S. Army Jacket - Well ventilate and armored. It was a Christmas present, bought for me by my ex, on closeout. I love it and hate the day I may need to replace it.
Bilt Blaze pants - well perforated. The knee armor slides around, and it worries me, but the price was right for what I can do.
Bilt Trackstar Boots - Not much bad to say about them. Well perforated, well protected and they cost $79.00 on one of CycleGears' constant sales.
Sedici Torino Gloves - They're a hybrid leather and mesh. Not many of them around. They breathe decently, though the fit leaves something to be desired. At $50 it's a hard deal to beat for breathing gloves with knuckle protection.
I seriously want a track-suit. Perforated leather, knee pucks and well armored, for the days I get to play on the twisties. Simply not an option any time soon, though.
