Sport-Touring project for the 2009 FZ6R

I'm a new rider. My first time riding a motorcycle was 4 days after I purchased it . I purchased my FZ6R late August and I chose the color white.
I'm trying to document the project with this thread, help others with similar questions as well as ask for your comments and suggestions on this. I'll try to add as many pictures as possible, as well as feedback on the completed mods.

My challenge: transform it into a practical, fun and comfortable sport-touring/commuting bike.

Sure thing, as soon as I'm gonna get it I'll get the pics.

Been there, done that...here you go. Go to the bottom of page 1. I have comparisons side by side. Page 2 shows it better in the daylight. I know the Yamaha web site says 1" taller than stock, but it isn't, it's the same height. It's just curved more and allows the wind to flow better, less turbulent. I would still like a taller one when they come out. Hope this helps.

If you read the prior thread I posted on "Yamaha Windscreen", I talked about it. It does make the wind less turbulent, but does not quite blow the wind over my helmet. Being that there is only a few options thus far, its better than stock but not by much. It looks better (IMO) and functions a little better, but not as much as I would like. Hopefully, Zero Gravity or others will come out with a taller, touring screen here soon, since our bikes are beginning to gain popularity.

For next season I'm planning to buy a Shoei RF1100 helmet and I'm hopping with the Yamaha Clear windshield to make a big difference. If not, I'll just have to wait until some other better touring shields are out as mentioned earlier on this thread...

Yamaha Clear Double Bubble Windshield

The Yamaha Clear Raised Bubble Windshield Install is done. Here's a couple of the things I learned while doing it:

Heat or hot water doesn't really help in removing the warning sticker that comes virtually permanently attached with you Yamaha Double Bubble Windshield.
To remove above mentioned sticker you need 5 parts patience, 1/2 roll of paper towels and a little bit of OOPS Amazing Remover.

I also replaced the plastic windshield screws with stainless steel ones. I think it looks better and matches well with the screws that hold the fairings. Original plastic screws were size M5x14mm, the ones I found at the hardware store were M5x16mm.

Overall I'm pleased with this change. I'll get to test-ride it tomorrow and I'll update this post.

Just a quick update on this project:
I ordered the Givi E52 Top case with an additional LED light kit and the Givi mounting option for the FZ6R. They told me that the rack is on back order and will be available in 4-6 weeks.

It's a lot of money but I think it's worth it. I'll do a "How to" on that installation as soon as I get it.

Yes, the case & lighting option mounts and dismounts very easy. The "How to" on this will show every little thing in great detail.

Went for my first ride this season... and a few updates...

Well the first ride of the season was everything I imagine it would be for the past 3 months since I put it to hibernate, it was friggin` fantastic ).

Here's the new look of my bike, sporting the Givi tail case and the 'Tank Blaster' tank bag.

And here's a rear side view....

I used RAM Mounts to add the GPS and the iPhone, plus I fabricated a bracket for the SAE power connector found on the handle bar. The "Tank Blaster" is easy to fabricate, if need be I can post a How To on that.

My new lid ... Coudn't decide on a graphics one so I went for solid (saved $75 , purchased that at compacc.com for $287 delivered)
