6 or 7... 7 if you have any other gear (tail bag, side bags).
at 212lbs myself, and I have the givi side bages, so I run at 7 with stock setup. many have upgraded front/rear suspension because it is meant for smaller riders
I am just under 300 and went up 1 at a time till it was too rough then dropped back down 1 to 6 now.. and feel it is just right. 7 jarred on everything for me.
I would highly recommend you do the same of going up only 1 @ a time till you find what feels too hard for you, then drop back down 1. There really isnt a perfect # for everyone. This will allow you to try them all until you are now uncomfortable and you can drop back down. If you just jump to 7, you might never know that a different setting was your riding heaven!
I can agree with going up 1 at a time. I thought 3 was a bit to soft so I set it to 5 and that's kicking my *** so to speak. Granted I'm only 155lbs but now I know jumping was no good.
hmm I'm about 155/160lbs and 5 seems perfect to me, at least better then the stock 3.
for the OP I would say 7 (or w/e max is) if 5 is fine for my size.
Get a spring that is right for your weight and then set it at 4. You'll get proper use out of the shock. At 6 or 7, you're using up the travel you need before you get on the bike.
