Phone/GPS/etc charging port

Hey guys, quick question. I was looking at adding a charging port to the bike for the GPS or phone or whatever it may be. I have 2 issues, one ive heard that our bikes dont have a ton of electricity to play with. Is this true?

2. What options are there? Ive seen a few options and none are awesome. Id like either a cigarette charger, or a usb charger, mounted permanently to the fairing/dash area.

These two seem like the only 2 I could find and they arent very attractive by any means. Id love it flush mounted, but seems hard to find.

Those about it, but you can find same cig light in auto parts stores for cheap.
As for flush mount, you have to do that and cut some plastics, nothing comes flush for every possible bike.

I use my tender plug... have a plug to lighter cable... and stuck a two port usb thingy in it... one 6ft usb cable for gps and a 1ft for phone... under rear seat, with the 6ft routed up front.
Keeps it out of the rain.

Gps and phone are nothing on our charging system... no worries there

I removed the bar clamp and mounted in my dash

One thing to be careful with is drilling a hole to recieve it in the dash -get the CORRECT size to begin with:banghead:

Now thats exactly what i meant. However now that I think about it, the ability to swap to a cigarette standard port may be handy..

Hmm, i may go this route, does it fit underneath our passenger seat cargo area easily?

Nice use of materials, but I think ill just end up going with the cigarette charging port, with usb dongle things. Gives me more versatility, and it looks like they already have usb ports on the thing too.

One thing to keep in mind... most of the usb "waterproof" plugs are only waterproof when the cap is on... meaning, if it's raining, you can't use it.
Unless it has a waterproof mate, plugging a standard usb in won't cut it.

which is why I buried mine under the rear seat. My gps is in a waterproof case as well and the cable routes in underneath... drip proof, not submersion proof...

found these as well, both the plug and attaching cable: Mini USB Buccaneer. IP68 & IP69K Waterproof USB V2.0 connector system, by Bulgin Components.

Battery tender wire routed under seat/tank which connects to the bike master port box. That box sits in the front pouch of my RT 19 tank bag

No cuttin plastics to fit bike, it is waterproof/resitant w/ tank bag cover on.

I agree with what Dart says. One thing to remember too is the GPS cord is not water proof! I learn that the hard way last year... Of course it stop charging and took a $hit 30 minutes before I get to destination, usually right when you need it the most! LOL

Over the weekend my wife & I went to a friends how to eat & meet his new GF & while there, I noticed she had this little cube so I asked what it was. It was basically a little charger that could charge up your phone, gps, ect. It was kinda neat looking & small. I thought about picking one up, keeping it charged & leaving it under my seat. She bought it from sprint.
