Honda oil!

I have a gallon of this in my garage, Pro Honda GN4 4-Stroke Motor Oil | Street Bike | Rocky Mountain ATV/MC,

so that is what I plan to use for my first oil change. It is Pro Honda GN4 4-Stroke Motor Oil 10W-40 SJ.

I have not decide what I will use for the second oil change.

Honda oil is good stuff gn4...I like the dino silkolene 4t buy it in the 55 gallon drum I run it it in all my race engines to break in and after break in use.

Hey guys i stumbled upon this, anyone know if its true?

Essentially Amsoil supposedly outranked every oil in about every category.

Just a personal observation to toss out here: I changed out the break-in oil with synthetic Castrol motorcycle oil. Bike shifted smooooottth. It felt like the clutch was sometimes slipping though, and it bothered me.

Last oil change, I put in Castrol non-synthetic motorcycle oil. No more clutch slippage. The clutch engages as though it's a high voltage electro-magnet.

No more smooth shifting, though. I've got to work really hard not to clunk and grab.

Many will say Castrol is junk. OK. Many will say it's the shizzit. Also OK. It's just a personal observation concerning my personal experience with synthetic vs. non. Now I honestly don't know if I prefer the smooth shift with a little clutch slippage, or the solid clutch with the grab and clunking.

I'm thinking that next time, I'm going to try the semi-synthetic. Maybe it's a happy medium...

It's tough when personal preference is so difficult that you don't know which you personally prefer!

Maybe I missed it while reading through this sticky.. but is there any harm in putting in 10W40:

Red Line Synthetic Oil - Motorcycles, ATVs, and Powersports - 10W40 Motorcycle Oil

Opposed to the manual recommended 20W50? Like I posted on "Oil Filter" thread.. I have A LOT of this left over from my S-40.. so I don't really want it to go to waste..

Not sure if it'll harm the bike at all.. data spec page says use 10W40 on conditions below 60 degrees F and 20W50 for above 40 degrees F

$56 for a gallon. The only harm is to your wallet. Consider Shell Rotella T6 Synthetic 5w-40w Diesel. $20 a gallon, great stuff and available every where.

Shell Rotella T6 is getting very popular with all kinds of motorcyclists. In fact, Amsoil has published some comparisons of their oil vs. T6. The joke is T6 was designed for Diesel trucks not motorcycles but clearly it is popular enough for Amsoil to take notice.

Diesel oil has a high Zinc content, see link:

all I can say is do it at your own risk.
