You can put spools on the axle nut or the swing arm. Does one offer more protection than the other?

I though the spool on the swing arm offered more because it has a beefier mount.

I can't stand the look of the T-Rex spool adapter and am not excited about spools that go directly on the axle nut if they get in the way of stuff like chain maintenance.

I was thinking about having two small plates fabricated that can be tapped for the spools to be installed onto and having the plates welded to the underside of the swing arms. Good idea or bad?

How often should chain maintenance be done anyway? I haven't done it since I bought the bike. It's been 2 months.

My wife bought me the T-Rex triple clamp front stand for Christmas. I love it. Went together easily and it works beautifully.
