My name is Tom, originally from Detroit, Mi. but have been in Mexico for 28 years. Rode Yamaha for 30 years, switch to BMW and 2 weeks ago I purchased a 2014 FZ6R. So far I really like it, have been shopping online for a few farkles. Here in the mountains of Guanajuato you can ride almost everyday of the year. Saludos and ride safe

Hello everyone I'm Jasper. I stay in Alpharetta,GA (metro Atl). I've had my license about a year after taking the msf course. Took forever to make up my mind for my first bike and finally went with the Fz6r. So far I'm loving it! Any day I can ride I take her out. So far I've only removed the decals but I'm waiting on my motodynamics tail light, fender eliminator and frame sliders. Hopefully the installs won't be too bard I'm sure if I get lost I can come here for help. Since I'm here, does anyone know if the install for clip on handlebars is an at home job or a shop? I'm pretty good mechanically, although not an actual mechanic more shade tree lol. If there are some boards already posted just point me in three right direction

Hi I'm Jason from California around Bay Area and Modesto area. Started with MSF 2 years ago and an '06 Ninja 250R, nice little bike. The FZ6R is a bit of a change for sure! Eyeballing sprockets, speedohealer, and lowering link.

Right now the bike is stock, but I have plenty of your typical upgrades on the way. Used to own a 2005 YZF600R from 2007 to 2010. After which I sold it and had nothing to ride till now.
Didn't take care of the last bike as well as I should have. Primarily because it was already laid down before I owned it. This time around I bought brand new. Plan to follow the break in and maintenance to a T. Hopefully we had a nice long relationship.
For those that want to know. This is what I currently have being shipped to me. I think after all this a good exhaust and power commander are in order

Nice list of parts man! I just did the DMP fender eliminator and the motodynamics tail light and turn signals. Pretty easy to do. Took me probably an hour to do it all and I just started tearing it apart with no knowledge of what I was doing.
Wrenching is fun.Also, nice find on that stand kit! I may have to pick that up myself. Had been looking for a good starter stand kit to make working on my two bikes a bit easier.

Thanks. I almost made the mistake of buying a Spool stand.
Thankfully I took a sec and went out to the garage and realized I didn't have predrilled holes for installing spools. (or at least not one's I could find).
I REALLY want to get a new exhaust for it. But I can't really float the $850 for the two brothers exhaust and the $200-250 for the power commander. Plus I have no knowledge of how to install it and the local dealership didn't seem to happy about me wanted to do it. Stating that it might cause the check engine light to intermittently go on/off? Due to the sensors the bike has?
Honestly though the bike is WAY to quite for me to feel safe on the roads. So I'm sure I'll end up doing it anyhow before the season is up.
I also read about people putting LED strips in the front air intakes for better turn signal visibility. That'll probably be my next upgrade after all these items come in.

I haven't heard of the check engine light issue with the TB Exhaust. That is going to be my next upgrade. The only thing I have read is you need to also install some block off plates when you do it to prevent an insane amount of backfiring.
Luckily I have a dealership/shop that said they'll gladly put it on for me. It's not the Yamaha dealer in town, but they are easily my favorite. Wish they would pick up Yamaha. I don't want to switch loyalty to Kawasaki or Suzuki just to support the shop I like!

Hey, My name is Alex, I ride in Central New York but start my adventures out of North Syracuse. I currently ride with a '13 Yamaha team racing blue/ white FZ6R and I love how this type of bike rides, aggressive but planted. I found this forum when I was looking to put a HID kit on my beast, which looks amazing. Decided to become a member cause of all the use full information on this forum.

Hey everyone, my name is Joe. I live in York, PA and I ride a 2011 FZ6R. This has been my "gateway bike" into the awesome world of motorcycles. I only learned how to ride at the end of last summer, and I enjoy improving my skills every time I get out there...
...however, at some point in his/her career, an electrician will get shocked, a plumber will get sprayed, and a biker will go down. Last week I was in North Carolina, and (for those who are familiar) I was bitten by "the dragon". I had my first spill on the bike, and I will admit it's a very interesting learning experience. I was also very lucky. I only have a [self diagnosed] bruised rib and sprained wrist, while at the same time I managed to lop off my windscreen and mirrors... which now hang on the tree of shame. My cowling also suffered some isolated damage which is talk for another thread, but all in all, I managed to get back on my horse and get her home without a problem.
Long story short, since any repair/mod question I posed online would eventually redirect me to this very informative site, I thought I would join to be a part of the discussions. In ordering the parts to make my bike "street legal" again, I also went on a slight binge of ordering some custom pieces. Hopefully I can learn from everyone, and at the same time share some of my own wisdom. Lesson #1... Rubber side down, shiny side up!

Hello everyone, my name is Adam and I'm from S. GA. I just purchased my third bike. It's a 2007 FZ6R with 2,300 miles on it for $2,100. It used to be red, now it's flat black. The first owner thought it would hide the dent in the tank and all the scratches on it. It also has a '03-'08 GSXR 600 fork setup on it. Not sure why he went with that instead of R6 forks, but who knows. My bike needs a lot of cosmetic TLC, so I'm sure I'll see a few of you around. Thanks for the add.
Welcome, you have an FZ6, not an FZ6R. FZ6R was built 2009+. Post some pics anyway.
