I have been looking to purchase bike for over four years now and I think I have settled on a FZ6R. I am 5’-4” and the FZ6R is one of the only bikes that fits me well, plus I like the style of the bike.

I am 56 and would like to get a yellow 2009 model.

Is there any new 2009 yellow FZ6R left around anywhere? Seen once a dealer had a left over.

I wouldn’t mind a use bike but and lot of owners seem not willing, at my cost to have a dealer completely check over the bike before I give them the money. Yes I would let them take the bike to the dealer. No funny business. I live in Oregon and been looking mainly in Oregon, Idaho and Washington with out much luck. White color would be all that bad either. Should I just save up and get a new one some great day?

PS: Why does Honda’s cost so much more? Are they that much better built or what?

I am in Bend, if you find one around here I can surely check it out for ya ;)

Used is fine with these bike. They are damn near bullet proof. They are great bike and we have members here with over 60k miles on them.

I would not hesitate to buy used. Just make sure they kept up on maintenance.

Biggest issue buying a new leftover 09 is that the second you take it off the lot, you now have a 3 year old used bike. So resale value is in the tank and you are guaranteed to be upside down if you finance it whole.

There are no changes besides color pretty much between all years. They are all the same.

Sublimity/Power Yamaha is where I got my white 2010. They let me take it for a test ride and then gave me a great deal. I highly recommend them.

That's where I got my FZ8. Some of the.best prices around and huge selections.

Welcome Chuck..

Some thoughts and questions.

Are you new to riding?? Will this be your first bike?

2 weeks after you own your bike, the color no longer matters.

Why not for go the dealer check and buy the seller. Look at the general condition of the chain and tires. Notice how he takes care of his car and home in general. Ask about routine maintance. This model is not that complicated. If the oil has been changed and the chain lubed and not beat to shit--you should all set. Bulletproof..

Honda's pricing in the last few years has been nuts. A VFR for $20K !!!!! Damn someone is smoking some strong weed in the executive offices!

BUY USED FOR SURE. I recently bought a 09 for $4900 that was in perfect condition. Leave the new bikes for riders that have no other choice.

If this is your first bike-give a look at used 250's from japanese makers. I am short also, so many bikes just don't fit. Try to find a 30" seat height or less.

Good luck..

Thanks for all the reply's. Keep them coming please!

I haven't been on a bike in thirty years and will take training/safety classes. Don't plan on racing. Don't want a old mans looking bike and like the look of the FZ6R.

I am trying to get educated on how to pick a good used bike and want to look out for. I live only 12 miles from the Sublimity dealer and been there a couple of times.

I saw were there is a 09 white bike in Washington with about 1,200 mile on it for $5000. and a yellow 09 bike with 2,200 mile for 4,750.00. Does that sound like a reasonable price if the bikes are in excellent condition?

Should I really spend the money and have a dealer check the bike out first before giving out the cash? I heard were JB weld was used on a bike to seal up a crack on the engine block. The kid ho brought it in was trying to trade it in for a new bike. The Sublimity Dealer wouldn't of found the damage if they wouldn't of taken the time to remove the skin. The Sublimity dealer told the kid to get the hell off his lot.

I really don't mind pay a reasonable price but, no one likes been taken.
