How's your stock battery holding up?

Is everyone still running on the OEM battery?

Mine's great, so far (2 years), and it hasn't exactly been pampered. I forgot to use the Battery Tender most of last winter, and the bike started up after a couple months outdoors without a hitch. Occasionally, I leave the key on to after-run the fan. My riding buddy freaks, because he thinks it's going to kill the battery, but there's never been a problem.

Batteries have traditionally been a weak link in motorcycle reliability, but these new valve-regulated, glass-mat, whatever-the-high-tech thingies are looking pretty bulletproof. Or have I just been uncharacteristically lucky?

I'm still on the OEM, never battery tendered it during the winter and it's always fired right up.

I am still on the OEM, but I have had issues with batteries in the past, on our older bikes, so I pamper the battery, because nothing is more frustrating when you get the full charge indicator and go to start it and it won't turn it over. Or even when it does start, and you go an hour away and then later it won't start back up, leaving you stranded. I always put my bike on a tender when I am not going to be riding for a few weeks.

still on stock... 18 month into riding. Now I have a battery killer on there, so I gotta be careful (6amp, 65watt heated jacket liner :D).

I just changed batteries on both my cars, they died within a week of each other... both had just over 3 years... which is pretty low I think. VA weather isn't too bad either, so not sure why.

At least with the bike, it is possible to pop the clutch... if you got a bit of a hill or a friend. :)

My truck battery is going strong 8 years. Bikes battery was dead first of February but after 24 hours of battery tenderness it's just fine. 2009 model. I do need pigtails for my tender.

Still running the original battery. Never had a problem with it. :thumbup:

Still runnin the stock battery. But pampering the hell out of it. Its always plugged into my maintainer. Its one with the "float mode." Constantly off till the voltage drops a bit, then turns itself on, and shuts off at full charge. Love it! $21 bucks at autozone lol.

I've only had one instance of it being dead but I figured the LED kit pulled juice even when off, so added a full kill switch to the kit. Haven't had a problem since :)

I suspect Deltran gives the pigtails to dealers free, so they can pre-wire the new bikes. Pretty good marketing ploy, if you ask me.

Agreed. I know they put one on my Fiancee's new bike when we got hers.

Mine's OEM and sat much longer than 5 weeks. Hell at least 3 months and fired right up. FYI, buy a battery tender jr or something similar. Hooks to your battery so you can just plug in when you need to without messing with the battery.

Read somewhere batteries should last about 5 years. I always just plug in the tender when not being ridden for more than a few days.

My stock battery is still going strong after 4 years and 1 month. There has been a couple winters where I have neglected the battery tender. I would put my battery on it for about a week. Leave it off for about 3-4 weeks. Put it back on for a week etc.... When this one dies, I'm planning on going to a balistic dry cell battery.

Mines 4 years old, and she's still cranking strong. Sits on a battery tender during the winter months and also if she's gonna be sitting for more than a week.

I had to replace my battery two months ago...

Arizona heat shortens the life of both car and bike batteries.

Dealership had OEM replacement for around $80, so all good

My stock battery went dead after not being used for about 2 months. I went ahead and bought a battery tender and my battery has never given me a problem since. Not sure how much longer I have on the:( stock battery my bike is an 09 model
