How popular is a FZ6R to a crook ?

I think it depends on the crook. Around here we have a lot of meth. Most of the theft of anything is someone looking for quick cash for more drugs. Most of these guys are high or coming down when they commit the crime and not too bright to begin with, so they'll steal whatever. Organized rings tend to be doing it for a living, they're more discerning and looking to get the most for their troubles. The meth heads here could care less what the bike's worth as long as they get enough for their next fix.
They are stealing just about anything down here in San Diego. My neighbor had his 2012 GSXR750 and a 10ish year old beat up Ninja 900. The ninja was well abused and looked bad, but they took both of them. I do see a lot of older small cruisers (80's and 90's) that people commute in that get left outside, but haven't heard of them getting stolen.
It might have something to do with being close to the border in San Diego though. I wouldn't trust my bike outside overnight.

since mine was stolen last summer (wreck and recovered) I'd say some thieves dont even know exactly what they're taking. They popped my ignition right off like a pro. Thankfully after repairs all I have is a scraped up right side, folks probably think I lowsided it but who cares it runs just fine even though I now have 2 keys, one for new ignition and one for gas cap.
that sucks bro im sure some just don't care what they are taking but im glad you recovered it!!!

GREAT info in there, thank you. My personal opinion on the matter would be that while no bike is immune, I would see the FZ6R as one of the lower ranking bikes for being targeted. Certainly there are going to be those who will not care what bike it is as long as they can snag it, but from a scouted/targeted by professionals standpoint I think they would rather go more for the CBRs, Gixxers, ZXs because they would sell quickly even if they sold it for parts due to their popularity.
