I had to carefully align my front stand in order to get the front axle out. I seems stable, but I hope there's no slippage for the next few days while I get the tires mounted!

Blocking under the header is a safe bet but a bit more work...

I did end up putting some support under the middle of the bike right where the fairing stops. About a 1 inch drop should anything fail. Guess I should have sprung for the Pitbull front stand ...

The reward for this risk is a set of Pilot Power RS tires. Can't wait to get them installed and tested out. Coming from the original 8-year old tires!

I learned long ago not to trust only a single method for support. In addition to support under the bike, I also attach tie downs from the ceiling to the handle bars. Each screw eye and strap will hold at least 200 pounds (I can lift myself with it), so lots of spare capacity for the front end of a bike.

In this photo, I am using the system for storage of an A Frame brace.
