GOPRO HD Hero2 Professional

Alright so I am about to pull the trigger on a GOPRO HD Hero2 Professional. I just wanted to confirm that this is the latest model out there and if anyone has heard of a upcoming release date on a new one please do let me know.

Also where do you guys think I can get the best deal. $300 seems to norm GOPRO Parts & Accessories - HD Hero2 Professional - Cycle Gear

Yeah, I think that $300 is the norm, you won't find a much better price. I really would like to get a Hero2, but just got the Hero about 3 months ago, love it, but would like the external mic.
 
I got mine from an independent photography business owner out of Houston, TX on EBay 285 shipped motorsports edition. He was the only one doing it from that area.
 
alright guys one last questions. is there any must have accessoriess that I should combine with original purchase that will 15% off that I have been saving my MSF card for.

Suction cup mount no doubt. and make sure to get plenty of the arms so you can get it to the exact angle you want. The LCD and Battery Backpacs are pretty awesome, but they are one of the more expensive extras
 
I just got the Hero 2 Motorsports edition and it does come with the suction cup. It does not come with the skeleton housing though. I also got the wi-fi bacpac which works really well. Used my MSF discount at Cycle Gear so I bought what I thought I'd need long term. They had a deal going where I got a 16GB SD card free, not sure if that's still happening.
 
Screw it I just got it. I also got the LCD bakcpack and another shoei helmet. Also used my MSF discount for 30% off. I'm so flipping happy right now. Like a kid in a digital HD candy store.

There is a special back door that works with the LCD backpack. I'm not sure of it comes with it or not. I may get one myself. Would be neat to see what I'm shooting video and pictures on.

You will want the grab bag of mounts eventually and check out wasabi battery combo on amazon. It's two batteries that are claimed to last longer than gopro batteries and a wall charger and car charger for around $20. You can't beat that!
 
the LCD was $80 but i got 30% off so great price and it just plugs / clips into the back. Will def buy more accessories soon. So far love it. do you guys use free video editiong software?

I use windows movie maker on windows 7. Works great
 
okay I just got to see the vid I took last night and when I mount directly to my bike the camera rattles like crazy. does this happen to you? how do you fix this issue?

Did you mount with the suction cup or the sticky mounts? If you use the sticky, make sure to use the white rubber thing, it's there to stop the rattling. Another thing that works is to put a thin layer of electrical tape on the sticky mount.
 
I bought the Hero motorsport pack.

The suction cup has never come off the tank, you have to use a thin layer of water around the edge of the cup for best results. I still tie it loose with a shoe lace just in case.
 
So this thread inspired me to finally drop the cash and get a Hero2 or ContourGPS this afternoon. Finally had one in my cart and clicked the checkout button but was rudely interrupted/reminded that they won't ship Li-ion batteries to FPO/APO anymore :mad: :( :banghead:

Because of the exchange rate I'd end up spending well over $300 for just the Hero2 camera and I don't even think I could find a ContourGPS out in town. Anyone interested in receiving shipment for me and sending it to me in an unmarked package? :D
