Do you have an Anti-theft system on you're bike?


I am seriously considering getting something. I really want something that beeps to my key chain or something similar to a car. Bike thefts are getting all too common. I know there are disk locks, full alarm systems, noise makers ect.



Thoughts? opinions?

Lo jack isn't available in all cities but probably is the very best route to go.

The even bigger problem with lojack on bikes is that there really aren't that many places to hide it and the professional thieves will easily find, remove and toss it in about two minutes. On cars, they tend to bury them really, really deep in all sorts of odd places. Even then, they are often disabled and tossed by thieves who know the make/model and know where to look. My insurer provides only a very nominal amount for a LoJack and pretty much nothing beyond what they already give me for the manufacturer's alarm/immobilizer. The insurance company basically told me not to bother anymore and I decided against it on the latest vehicle for that reason.

my bike is garage kept and its safe at work I don't really go to any store on it for more than a few minutes.

Hope I never have these kind of issues

Well sadly I moved into an apartment without a garage or covered parking. This scared me at first. But so far so good. I park it in the parking spot right in front of my bedroom window and have a cover on it with a xena disc lock with alarm on the back wheel. No one but me has set it off yet, and that thing is loud as hell. If you have to park outside I would recommend a good disc lock and cover.

Another vote here for the Xena disk lock/alarm. I don't use mine too often, but it's nice to have on those occasions I need it. If a thief can get by that, then they earned it and I'll have the insurance company buy me a new one. :)

Well I think I'm going to get a disk lock. Seems cheap and loud. I mainly want it to alert me if someone messes with my bike so that I can run out and handle business. If it fits under the seat then I'm in for sure.

Lo jack is a good thing still. I can't move my bike more than 5 ft if that before I get a call. If I don't have my key fab that is. And I have no clue where on the bike it is.

I've thought about getting LoJack. I had a basic alarm on the bike when I was commuting every day. But it was so super sensitive and I was parking on the second floor of a parking structure with a hundred or so cars on that floor. The security guard came into the office one day and asked if I could disarm it because it never stopped going off. It just took up space in my little storage area so I pulled it out. I don't commute anymore so no big deal I guess.

whats the monthly cost on lojak? lets face it these bikes are really not worth too much security, its not like a care where its going to cost 40k to replace it. Disc lock seems like a good idea for the not too lazy. Mine is kept in the garage and since i mostly canyon ride it you would have to steal it while i was eating at the rock store or the bouqet canyone restaurant :)
